Its not in Montauk, but we really really enjoyed the Stone Creek Inn in East Quogue (French/Mediterranean)

The Harvest on Fort Pond -- my FAVORITE restuarant on LI -- When you're driving into town, turn Left at John's Drive Inn Ice Cream Parlor -- it's on your right; right behind John's. But you have to make reservations- it's always booked.

I would hightl, highly HIGHLY recommend the Harvest on Fort Pond in Montauk. It is amazing, and IMO, alot better than Gosmans. It is pricey, but for a special dinner, well worth it!!!

Re: Montauk restautants
thanks - someone told me to try Harvest something, but they couldn't remember the rest of the name - do you know how far in advance I need a reservation for mid week after Memorial day?

I'd try calling NOW...that's a very busy time out there. Are you staying out there? If so, where?

Gossman's or Johnny Marlin's (I think they might have changed the name)
Any restaurant in that area is romantic. My husband propsed to me at the beach by Gossman's. Montauk will always be a favorite of mine.

Gosman's is great, but not really romantic IMHO - more casual and fun watching the boats by the harbor. Harvest is wonderful, but my favorite is Caswell's. It's towards the beach but no ocean views - the food is amazing!!!

Navy Road is very romantic. Food is not the BEST I have ever had but you can't get a better view of the sunset in at dinner time!!
