month question

If I am 18 weeks pregnant, how many months am I? 'What to expect when you are expecting' says 5 months 18-22 weeks... But whenever I tell anyone I am 5 months they tell me I am not

Thats hard because a full term is 40 weeks which would really be 10 months, not 9 months - I remember this always confused me when I was carrying my son!

Thats why I am so confused

Everyone is like, well April is 5 months away, so how could you be 5 months right now?
I guess I should go by what the book says?

I always looked at it like this I think it makes more sense.. You are in your 5th month you will actally be 5 months when you hit your 22nd week. ( like you will achieve your 5th months by 22 weeks) for example when I was like 20 weeks I would say I was 4 1/2 months pregnant.. I hope this makes sense.

It's annoying right - I always tell people weeks and they always ask for the month translation. I go by the What to Expect When you're Expecting guidelines.

So since I am in my 26th week I would say I am in my 6th month. Or sometimes I switch it up and say I am 5.5 months pregnant but that feels so little when I know I only have about 14 weeks left!
