Morbid Convo W/ FH yesterday..

Yesterday, we were on our way home and we drove by a cemetery and it dawned on me that if God forbid something happened to FH I have no idea what he wants...burial...cremation..etc...

I HAD to ask and it was sooooo weird...realizing I am in charge of him for like EVER....

He ended up saying he wanted cremation and to be buried wherever it's easier for people to visit...I said cremation but he MUST take me wherever he goes...I want to be on his mantle forever....lol...to which he said I am not surprised..

has anyone else had this horrible convo yet???

Ugh, I just had a thought, now that I'm starting to freak over this. I won't be allowed to be buried with FH unless I convert. I never intended on converting to Greek Orthodox, I'm not attached to my own religion enough to attach myself to another. They're allowing me to get married in the church, and I can attend services, just not receive communion. But this is a big deal. I don't understand either how they can allow a non-orthodox to marry an orthodox, but oops, can't be buried with your husband.

I don't know what to do.

noooo you're not! it may be sad and so devastating for us to think about, but it's a part of life that is unavoidable and should be discussed. we both want to be cremated. i think it's important to talk about these things. you're not debbie downer eve i promise haha

We haven't had that convo yet but something similar. A few weeks ago we watched a show on 911 and they replayed and talked about calls that people made to their SO's saying good-bye. I asked him if I was in a situation like that would he want me to call and say goodbye and he said 'of course.'

Well you know how I do...

but I was totally serious....I don't care if he remarries...that son of a nutcracker has to take me with him wherever he goes...I want to be on top of the TV...

After reading this thread today I asked FH what he would want and this was his reply....'I want to be cremated, I don't want to be buried in a cemetery, thats prime real estate for a golf course'....I almost fell off my chair.

Haha it's true...I went into the city with my family the other day and drove past that huge cemetary just before you get to the 59th st. bridge...my father just said 'can you imagine the poltergeists they'll have if they decide to put condos over here?'
