more makeup questions

Hey girls! I was thinking at first to do my makeup myself and then my sister told me that it could be a hit or miss thing the day of and she said that it may be bad to do it myself...i was attempting to do it myself to save a little money but if I am paying all this money for a photographer, I don't want to look eh in the pics ya know? My favorite makeup is Chanel so I am thinking maybe having someone from the counter do my makeup for me. Has anyone gotten a makeup artist from a counter to do your makeup the day of? Was it expensive?

Re: more makeup questions

I am a make-up artist and I am having it done.
I will be WAY too nervous and I don't want to have to think of one more thing that day.
If you are going to use a counter person, that's fine. MY ONLY concern would be, could you count on that person the day of without any recommendations? I'd ask for referrals.

You might do makeup very well, but I'd recommend using someone who is trained in doing m-u for film, tv, print, etc. You need to do it differently so that it shows properly in your photos and video.

I don't think it's a terrible idea to do your makeup yourself if you're good at it. I do not not not not like people touching my face, so I am most likely doing mine myself. You could always ask for recommendations at a store, which is what I plan on doing.

I am doing my own MU - I've spent literally, months, researching! LOL
Anyway, I had a trial at Chanel (I HEART Chanel!) and at MAC - too the best of both worlds, got tips on how to apply for film, and I've learned how to do it myself. Good luck!

I HEART Chanel as well!!! I will visit the counter and talk to someone there. I really liked the girl at Roosevelt Field Mall but I live too far from there. Either I will have someone from the counter do it or I will get tips and do it myself.

I am using Pro Lumiere Professional Finish Foundation with the Sheer Illuminating Base as a primer. Together they photographed very well with my camera. I am using MAC eyeshadows - strong pigments and the color lasts all day with an eye primer.

when you are paying so much money for the day, i think you should think about investing the $150 or whatever to get your makeup done, so it is perfect, no stress, it lasts, etc... just my thought.

I thought that too but every time that I have someone else do my makeup I am always disappointed and my FH said he likes the way that I do it better than anyone. I did my own makeup for my sisters wedding like two years ago. I didn't want to spend the money for an artist to do it so I did it myself and I photographed very well!! We will see...I have the new love for Chanel so I will def have a consultation at the counter.

I think booking a professional is the way to go. You want to look good in your pictures and they know how to make that happen. Also, you will likely be nervous that day.

If you go to the coiunter, they usually do it for free if you buy a certain amount of makeup. I would def drop by the counter in advance and meet the person who would be doing it, make an appointment (they usually take appointments) etc.
