Morning After Wedding Questions

Morning After Wedding Questions

Stupid question - since FI and I have a 7:30am flight the day after the wedding, what do I do with my dress and all the wedding stuff we give to the hall - toasting flutes, cake server, etc??

Also - is it rude to leave on your HM and not have the wedding gift checks taken care of?? I know people who have spent their wedding night signing the back of checks so that someone can deposit while they're on their HM. Is this necessary??

Thanks!!!

Re: Morning After Wedding Questions

Where are you staying on the wedding night? Could you have someone take care of your dress, hall stuff for you?

FH and I have the same dilemma! I think my mother and/or MOH will have to do all that stuff for me.

I don't think it's rude not to have checks deposited immediately, however, it is probably safer than to have them sitting somewhere for an extended period of time.

I'll be keeping an eye on the responses to this one myself! Good luck!

Re: Morning After Wedding Questions

One of my Dh's aunts took home all the stuff from the reception hall for us the night of the wedding. You could also make arrangements for the hall to pack everything up and have someone pick it up during the week.

I am not sure where you are leaving from (your home or a hotel?) to go to the airport so I don't know what to say about the dress. Some options - change at the reception site and ask someone to take it home for you, drop it at someone's house on the way to the airport.

The checks can wait until you get back from the HM. People know that you are going away immediately following and expect this. Have someone trustworthy hold onto them or you can ask someone to deposit them. Either way isn't rude.

Re: Morning After Wedding Questions

We're staying at the Wyndham Windwatch (reception is next door at Hamlet WW). My parents have volunteered to stay in the hotel that night, to help me with these things. I may take them up at that offer Honestly, I think I would trust only my Mom to take my dress to the cleaners!!

Thanks Christine - we're leaving from the hotel and going straight to the airport. I was thinking of having an Aunt take the other stuff home with her (toasting flutes, server) and possibly having the limo stop at my parent's house really quick to drop off the dress (if they don't stay in the hotel).

Re: Morning After Wedding Questions

I would elect someone responsible to gather all your stuff together either at the Hotel that next morning or even at the hall after the wedding. As for the honeymoon, I don't think there is anything wrong with waiting until after the HM to deposit your gifts - just keep them in a safe place!

My parents took home everything we had given to the reception hall, plus all the desserts that were left over.
My dress I just dropped off at home the next day since we were leaving for the honeymoon on Tuesday.
The checks we left with my parents who put them away in the attic while we were gone. They would not have been able to deposit the checks for us since the bank told us they required photo ID & our marriage license before they would deposit anything since most of the checks were made out to the two of us as a married couple.

Re: Morning After Wedding Questions

We've actually thought about this before booking the honeymoon. So far, after our wedding on saturday, we'll be having a brunch with family on sunday, and on Monday we'll spend a big chunk of the day running around and depositing everything and doing last minute packing. Basically, we decided to wait until Tuesday after a Saturday wedding to leave, in order to have on workday when banks are open to sort our stuff.

Take this from a newlywed: You will WANT TO open those cards when the wedding is over. Curiosity just gets the best of you. And it doesnt take as long as you may think to get the checks all signed. We brough along a deposit slip and deposited all the cash/checks into the ATM before we left for the airport.

I'd opne them on my wedding night and have someone meet me early in the am (someone close) to take that home along with your dress etc

Stef...did you put the cash into the atm as well as the checks? I was alittle worried that with my luck something would happen and the cash would get lost.

I'd be afraid of that too!
