morning of stressing me out
it is currently 1 in the morning and I am wife awake bc all I can think about its the time line for the morning of my wedding. we are having a 6:30 ceremony but are planning to doo the untraditional reveal and take all our pictures beforehand. my photographer wants me to be getting my finishing touches around 1:30, I have 7 bridesmaids getting their hair done a long with both moms and 4 bridesmaids getting their makeup done too as well as the moms, therefore my makeup and hair girl wants to start hair at 9 and makeup at 10. I just feel like this is an extremely long time for us to be all done up with hair and makeup before the ceremony, thinking about it some of my girls will essentially be done getting ready around 11 for a 6:30 ceremony. am I crazy for wanting to get the pictures done before the ceremony so fh and I can enjoy the cocktail hour?! this has been consuming my thoughts to the point where I can't sleep and I feel guilty asking some of my girls to be at the hotel at 9 in the morning when the ceremony isn't until 9 and a half hours later! also will our makeup still even lookgood that point?!Thanks for listening to the long vent, hopefully after writing this and getting this out of my head I can finally fall asleep at 1:30 in the morning!

Re: morning of stressing me out
We are doing the same thing and I know how you feel! I've started to think/worry about this too. If you were having a traditional church or other religious ceremony first at lets say 2 or 3 you would have to get ready that early, go to the ceremony, then go off to do pictures and the reception would still start at the same time and you would all need to still be ready and looking nice at the cocktail hour/beginning of reception. So I think it just sounds like a long time because the order of events is not traditional, but in reality it's the same amount of time either way.

I guess I never thought about this because if I were to have a traditional church ceremony there would usually be a few hours between the ceremony and cocktail hour and I'm just doing those hours before the ceremony so we make go to the cocktail hour.
Thank you for being rational and thinking for me. I kept me awake and tossing and turning for all too long last night!
Natalierose1085 what time are you starting at, hoping your time is close to mine and it will give me some more relief! haha

Haha i was freaking out about this myself! Until I asked my sister what time she had to be at her church by and I realized we are starting at the same time for our weddings even though my ceremony was later. We haven't worked out whether we are getting our hair done at home or at the salon but if it's done at home then we are starting 11am, but if we have to go to the salon then it is going to be more like 9am.

Re: morning of stressing me out
My church starts at 2pmReception starts at 6pm
Hair and make-up is going to start around 8 (hair) and 9 (make-up). Photographer and videographer should come around 12.
We are getting dressed around 12 and I might start a little earlier since I have buttons going down.
We will need to start getting in limo at 1:30 for a 15 min car ride.
I will be attending my cocktail hour.

Re: morning of stressing me out
I feel like being ready by 1:30 is really early considering your ceremony isn't until 6:30. Do you have far to travel? My ceremony starts at 3 and we're doing the reveal before. We are going to Planting Fields and our photographer said he needs about 30 mins at home and an hour and a half for all the pictures of us, our bridal party and our immediate family. 5 hours seems REALLY long for pictures. Do you have children in the bridal party?

Don't forget to consider travel time too though, personally my hall is at least 45 minutes away from where i live and that's with no traffic and hitting the lights just right. If you want to go to a location to do picture for an hour or two that's possibly more travel time you need to take into consideration.

morning of stressing me out
The travel time from the hotel (where we are getting ready at) to the venue is only 10 minutes. But we are taking into consideration doing the reveal at the hotel, getting onto the party bus (around 30 of us) stopping somewhere along the way to take pictures, getting to the venue to take a few more. my photographer said he want up in the bridal suite by 5:30 since guests will most likely start to arrive around 6. So if we do the reveal at 2 and he wants us hidden away at the venue by 5:30 that give 3 1/2 hrs for pictures (not accounting for the travel and stopping and going time)

morning of stressing me out
I know just how you feel also! I have been a BM at weddings and felt like I ended up sitting around forever waiting for things to start. Or drinking too many mimosas waiting with the other girls and feeling tipsy before anything gets started. LOLWe aren't doing a reveal, but we have to start getting ready at 8 or so for or two pm ceremony and 4pm hospitality/cocktail hours.
I wish I could think of something for everyone to do while we are waiting around.
It seems like the schedule is all designed to accomdate the makeup and hair people, and photographers, more than the bridal party!

After meeting with our photographer and working on ohr timeline, our dah seems to sound almost exactly like yours. It's going to be a long day for the ladies, but it will be worth it.

morning of stressing me out
My ceremony isn't until 7pm at night, so I'm not too worried the morning of timeline. The only advise I can give is make sure you have cushion time! My friend got married in 2011 and the morning of so many things got delayed. It resulted in her not taking enough pictures (as much as she wanted anyway) and we got late to the church. In the end it all worked out though :)

This is why I've been losing sleep over having to start real early, but then again I try to think that obviously my hair and makeup girl and photographer know best and there has to be reasons why they want to start hair and makeup at 9 and my photographer wants to start by 2. This is their professions, so who am I to tell them when to start.
I just afraid that we all still won't look as good come 6:30 in the evening ...my makeup def won't be looking as fresh

For my friends wedding, we had to be at the church by 1pm (I believe). There were 7 BMs getting hair and makeup and then 3 FGs and the MOB. The hair/makeup person came at 7am. Looking back at pictures from that night, our hair and makeup all still looked good! The problem we had was the flowers that were delivered were wrong, and the bride freaked out. That delayed us and cut into the morning picture time.
The bride went last for hair and makeup for the morning of. I've heard that the bride should go first, that way when everyone is done, the hair/makeup people can re-touch her up. I'm not sure how I feel about that though.
But at the end, we all still looked beautiful :)
