I haven't started shoe shopping yet, but wanted to see which style of shoe is generally the most comfortable. I'd like at least a 2' heel, probably as much as 2 3/4'. The probably is that I can't wear anything on a really steep incline because of the ankle surgeries I've had. Any recommendations on where to go? Also, what's more comfortable throughout the night -- open toe or closed toe? strappy or all closed in?
I think the most important thing to think about is the cushioning. I had what I thought to be really comfortable shoes. They were wide enough and had a sling back, nice 2 1/2 inch heel. BUT they didn't have enough cushioning and after a few hours, I was feeling the floor underneath me.

Re: Most comfortable style of shoes?
mine had a pointy toe and 1 inch heal. They were by Stuart Weitzman. I get them at DSW for $110. They didn't need to be dyed.
THEY WERE AWESOME. I'm actually going to have them dyed black to match one of my evening gowns.
Try My Glass Slipper on 22nd Street. They have a really big selection. I've also been to the one in VA. They don't have as much as in NYC as they do in VA, but still the most I have seen in one place.
This is probably out of your way, but Hazel's in Bayside also has a big selection.
I am thinking about getting these - the brend is Grace and they are 2 inches high. They have them at my glass slipper.

Re: Most comfortable style of shoes?
I think closed toe are most comfortable. I will be buying a plain slip on pump style. I really don't care what my shoes look like, and I will be changing into either slippers or sneakers for the reception (not nikes, but pretty bridal sneakers!)
I have heard good things about casa del mario in patchogue, between patchogue bridal suite and paradise bridal. on main st. check them out.

I bought two pairs and changed in the middle when the first pair got uncomfortable.

I had mid heal for the church and ballerina slippers for the reception. That was the one of the best decisions i made. Few people can even see your shoes and wearing the slippers let me dance the night away and have no pain whatsoever.

Thanks for all the suggestions! The only time I really care about wearing high heeled shoes is for the pictures with the BP & FH before the ceremony. I just don't want to look super tiny compared to everyone else!

go for the heel, but a thick one, not a stiletto

Mine are in my avatar. They had about a 3' heel. Got them at DSW for around $35 and they were very comfy all day and night. There were by Unlisted.

PS - My BMs got these and they were sooooo comfortable that I wanted a pair for myself.
They are by Coloriffics, the style is called Total Eclipse, around $50, dyeable, and we got them at Sandy's Shoes in Massapequa.

I bought those shoes too! They were very comfortable when i tried them on (They have some cushioning in the sole). The heel is 3' so i get some extra height and my feet won't be arched too high. I got mine at Craft Shoes on Jericho Trpke in Commack for the same price, i think.

These look comfortable and they are stylish - important! Ladies, don't forget about your feet - you want comfort AND style, not just comfort.
