Mother/Son Dance?

Ok, FMIL wants to dance to HERO byt MARIAH CAREY with FH...at first I was like great. But then I just sat down and read the lyrics and I don't think I like it. Here are the lyrics and let me know what you think. I know I shouldn't have a say in this, but I don't think its appropriate. Maybe its me.....

it might not be the song I would choose, but if it has some significance to either FMIL or FH, then who would I be to stop them for dancing to it.

Um that is what my FMIL wants too -- FH vetoed it so I didn't have to!

I agree. I also feel like it also says that his mother is his hero (which is fine but not at his wedding!)

He said he wants to see the lyrics and if he thinks its no good, he will say something to her......

well it can be past tense...when it comes to these dances most of the time people are just looking at the emotion of the mother and son and not paying attention to the lyrics. It can be like he did search within himself and found love and the emptiness disappeared.

maybe have your Fh say to his mom that theres a song that means alot to him and he would love it as the mother/son dance...but make sure he has a song picked out before he tells her haha

yeah i just think there are better choices

i didnt even read the lyrics to the mother/son dance fh is doing...i know the song but dont know the lyrics except the chorus...but this is a song shes been singing to him since he was a child and means alot to both of them so i cant tell him what to do. I think its fine though i am going to read the lyrics now haha

i don't agree... i haven't picked a song yet but my dad IS my hero and what's wrong with expressing that at my wedding during our dance? and FH is really close with his mom, so if they agreed on a song I wouldn't care at all and think it's really nice if he thinks of her as his hero - she should be.

When I hear 'Hero' I think of someone who has been thru the ringer but they had the strength to make it thru and someone else is trying to encourage them.

FMIL probably likes it because it sort of states how wonderful she thinks he is

FH didn't pick this song. She told him this is the song SHE wants.
My father is my hero too. They are very close and I would never want come in between that. I just dont' think saying when you are lost and alone. We are starting on a road together that when he does feel lost he has his partner there with him.
