Motion Sickness - Does Sea-Band work?

Motion Sickness - Does Sea-Band work?

We're going on our first cruise in 2 weeks and I'm a little worried about motion sickness.

I was fine on our 10.5 hour plane ride to Hawaii last year, but its probably a different feeling.

I bought Sea-Band today and wanted to know if anyone has used this? And what was your experience with it? How long does it last?

Please post any other recommendations.

TIA.

I've used them before too and they do work. You just have to make sure you place it correctly on your wrist.

They help...
when your at sea...depending on how fast boat is going and where you are on the ship...u will feel the boat move...other wise.. you (i) really didnt notice it.

DW used this on HM. I called them PowerPuff Girl Braceletts

she thought it was funny....

I used them on the plane to St Lucia.....It worked great....You can also take Ginger and drink ginger ale....When you can. It will help out a lot. Ginger is all natural so you can drink alchohola while taking it and it wont make you drowsy either.

If you want a more subtle look, look for the patch that goes behind your ear.

I cruised to Bermuda from NY last August, and everyone says that's the roughest water...Mom (and MANY other people on the ship) used that little patch, and everyone that I know of was completely fine.
I'm sorry, I can't remember the name at the moment....

Thanks everyone -- Now I'm happy I bought it

Shorty McBride, the one that goes behind the ear, is it an over-the-counter item or prescription?

I didn't have any luck with the sea-band. A glass of wine seemed to work better for me

I like Bonine better

it doesnt make you sleepy and you can still drink with it...it works just a simple pill you can buy at any drugstore

Why Sea-Bond makes your sleepy? And you can't drink with it? Please explain -- How can that be?

I think she was talking about the motion sickness pill Bonine, not Sea Band.

The band worked for me!!! ANd I get motion sickness on the LIRR sometimes!!!

I'm not saying I was completely fine, but it definitely helped! It made it tolerable! And I am very very sensitive.

One piece of advice, I was most dizzy and nauseated AFTER the cruise, I think next time I'll keep the bands on for a day or two after I get home!
