Does that sound like a lot We rent a 2 bedroom house with an attic full of stuff and a second couch and washer/dryer in the basement. He quoted $115 an hour.

That's about right. Get it in writing and make sure they have enough moving guys to do the job in the alotted time. As about a time cap as well. This is a very seedy business.

Who gave you the quote? I got an over the phone quote from All The Right Moves for a 3 bedroom apt. They said it was $109 for 3 men & $137 for 4 men. Maybe you can use that as a comparison.

Movers are such Robbers!!! When FI and I moved last time we were going to get a mover but all of the quote were outragous!!! We were quoted $860 for moving 3 dressers a crib a couch, one bed, a trunk, one TV one small entertainment center and a washer and dryer. Now that would not even fill 1/2 of the truck and we were moving 1/2 mile away!!! And they were all trying to tell me it would take at least 5 hours??? So a freind of mine had just moved that weekend so they brought the truck they rented over and I had like 5 of my friends help me move. Not only did we bring everything in one trip, but evrything (including putting everything where it belonged) took less the 1 1/2 hours!!!!! A few days later the guy that gave the high quote called and asked what I was doing and when I told him about only filling 1/2 the truck and that thw whole move only took 1 1/2hrs, he was like ' No way that's impossible' Friggin con artist Anyway if you really have a lot of stuff and your moving a ways away it might be worth it to get a mover. But remember the $ they tell you is JUST an estimate even when you sign the contract it will be written that they get paid $115 and hour, and if they are moving slow it could end up costing you alot more. Also you have to pay travel fee's and you also have to pay for 1 hour of lunch. Good Luck. Don't let them screw you!!!

I'd rather get friends to help move with the big stuff and Pay them $$. We're moving away but we are trying to get rid of our big furniture. We will probably have 3 big pieces and medium size boxes. As for the Boxes, we will just use a dolly. Our boxes are medium sized so that we can easily transport them.

We JUST used Men on the Move & they charged us $94. an hour for 2 men. They really moved & got our 1 big bedroom apt done in about 4 hours (BUT that is with an hour drive from Whitestone to Lindenhurst). We moved for $394. I'd highly recommend them. They were on time & knew what they were doing.
