Moving church flowers

Moving church flowers

Are any of you girls taking your church flowers (alter pieces) with you to the RH? If so whose transporting them?

I was thinking about taking mine and using them at cocktail hour.

I want to do this but my florist told me that sometimes the church does not allow it!!!!!!!!! That sounds completely ridiculous to me since I'm the one paying for it but she said that is the case sometimes. I'm going to check w/ my church before I plan on doing it.

i heard this too. its church-specific.

also, if you are planning on putting it in the limo, think again....we asked a bunch of limo companies about that idea and they basically shot us down.

i am thinking of making DIY fake arrangements....seriously....NO ONE gets close enough to see if the alter arrangements are real!

For my friend's wedding in July someone (don't know who) put the flower arrangements into the back of the BP limo to transport them to the hall.

I am guessing it will go in one of the Navigators in the back???

I didn't ask details since we aren't getting church flowers...we are doing the bows and flowers down the aisle....we decided not to since they would likely be all white and our CP are fall colors, it wouldn't really go.

If so thats ridiculous!!! You're paying for them, why shouldn't you be able to take them???

It depends on the church...some think you should 'donate' the flowers

One of the florists I saw said he makes the flowers for the church in special containers so that the limo driver can easily throw them in the trunk after the church and bring them to the reception hall to be used again.

Another florist said that the church flowers are usually considered a donation and will stay there . . . but we thought she was just trying to pad her hefty bill! LOL

I don't see how a church can force you to 'donate' your flowers that you paid for. I think most church already have a mandatory donation fee, I know ours does. I guess it's a good idea to ask them and the limo company about the flowers ahead of time. That would make me really mad though if the church tried to demand the flowers that we paid for stay there!
