Even though everything in this article is true, it makes me sad. I'm just grateful that my husband and I are fortunate enough to be able to afford a home on LI.
DH and I read this article and found it very interesting.
Moving out of NY is a possibility for us down the road.

We didn't totally leave NY, but we did rule out LI. We are in the process of buying in Putnam County. It is still overpriced, but we are getting a lot more for our money than we would on the island. We could have done western Suffolk (maybe) but our commutes would have been horrendous.

i would looooooooooooove to leave the NYC metro area but i think DH is tied to manhattan for the time being. i love NYC but am sad to see how out of control everthing has become...

I found the article very interesting... and reassured me that we will be ok when we leave LI and move to NC hopefully by the end of the summer.
