I wanted to share with you all bride to be and newlyweds another amazing day in my life. As many through this site I have accumulated a wealth of info on some amazing vendors!!! And I just wanted to highlight there amazing work!! Some familiar some not so familiar…
I will make this as brief as possible for now and if you have any questions please let me know!!
I will add some more detail later on as i get more pics. I hope you enjoy Thanks for looking!
Hope you enjoy this review of MY Fun!!! Flirty!! Dirty!! THIRTY Partyy!!!!!!
Venue: Two Steak and Sushi! Words cannot express how great Maureen the BM and the staff was to work with! Booked them off of a recommendation from one of the brides on the newlywed board! Didn’t taste the food!!! But loved the feel of the place!! Once we tasted the food on a random night… I knew we did well!! The private lounge downstairs is large enough to host any type of event!! I saw a wedding, bar/bat mitzvah… It’s really great!
Invitations: Broken Creation Designs! I wanted to send out something cool and once I had my theme/tagline I was stressing over cost!! I didn’t want to spend a lot… after all I did just get married last year. Searched high and low… talked to some great vendors on etsy and other contacts I had.. just couldn’t get the right mix of price and coolness factor. But again I made contact with some cool vendors!! I have there info and am willing to share – FM me for info… BUT on a whim I posted on TPF – The Purse Forum and sure enough someone that’s an avid poster over there has a graphics company!!! Danielle Clapp of Broken Creations Designs. She did a few samples and it was just great!!! She was willing to do unlimited revisions at no charge until we had it right.. She also works with her husband so I thought it was great!!! Few changes later and we had our invite! They also did a birthday banner and sign I had made to keep the theme going!
Dress: Camille La Vie- OH Geez!! I am a plus size girl and short 4’11! So I had a really hard time finding a dress… I tried to have one made – struck out… I tried to order one online – struck out… I ventured to this store at the palisades mall and they had a TON OF DRESSES!!!! COCKTAIL, PARTY, LONG GOWNS, BRIDESMAID Dresses and WEDDING GOWNS!!! Nothing designer… but I have to say I thought they had a great selection and affordable… The dress I got I think was ok… always room for improvement… but I need to loose some more weight…
Cake: Cakes by Dawn – Ok so I don’t know if that’s her company name… but Dawn is the sweetest person ever!! She was recommended to me by a few of the LI Families ladies. SO GLAD I WENT WITH HER!!! She was super super reasonable!!! I got a 2-tier cake (kind of mad hatter) and 46 chocolate lollipops.. great price!! THE CAKE WAS SUPER delish!!! The fan favorite was red velvet!!! So hard to do and she executed it 100%%%%+ The second tier was chocolate – I loved it but the red velvet won by a landslide!
Flowers: LA Blossom - Okay I am a flower person…I think they make such a nice addition and Laurie from LA Blossom by far exceeded my expectations!! I had a very small modest budget and ideas…. Outlandish ideas may I add!! She delivered beyond!!!
I booked her without meeting her, never saw a sample… just from the reviews on the boards… well ladies… when I get more pics I will add.. but let me tell you the flowers were stunning!!!!!!!!! EVERYONE LOVED them!!!
Music: Mike Corcione – he was great!!! The venue recommended him and after having an issue finding a DJ that wasn’t going to break my piggy bank I was beginning to think I wasn’t going to have music!!! I booked him way late like last week!! And sent him my music ideas um the day before the party!! LOL!!
He delivered and then some!!! I don’t know if he does weddings… but if your having an engagement party or something like that – I think he would be perfect!!
Candy Bar: So I wanted to do something fun and what’s more fun than candy!!! I used Lisa Blackler Candy Buffet and it was great!! I didn’t have to anything! Gave her the # of ppl, my colors/theme and she did the rest. Everyone loved it and it was a hit!!! So the candy was 80 themed! and in addition to that as a favor DH and I did a black favor bag included in it was more candy!!! And a lovely black baroque style mini picture frame (bought that online on eBay)
Favors and stuff: Mix and Match type thing – In a addition to the above candy bar that the candy was provided, I wanted to add some of my favorite candies from when I was a kid… so I went to my local Nuts about Candy Store, Party City and Amazon.com to get the extras I wanted. I also got the bags and the tissue paper at party city.
The Baroque picture frame – ordered from eBay. DH was so supportive in this venture!!! I wanted a cake stand, but didn’t want to spend a couple of hundred bucks on this crystal stand I saw on etsy… so I was in Marshall’s /Homegoods one day and I saw one with crystals that would do the job for 20bucks!!!! Only problem was it was gold!!! DH took the crystals off and spray painted it.. voilla problem solved at the cost of 25 bucks! Priceless!
I wanted to put some pics of me as kid around so folks could laugh.. I had 5 pictures and bought the frames at Marshall’s /Homegoods about 5 bucks each.
I have saved the best for last!! M.. I..A.. for hair and makeup!! What can I say that many of you have not already experienced. Back when I was wedding planning - she was one of the 1st trials I had and unfortunately I took to long to book her and she wasnt available for my wedding. When I decided I was gonna do this party I had a few artists in mind but went with her. I hate pictures and I dont consider my self to be all that pretty.. just average old me.. WELL she made me feel and look like a model!! I cried and of course next up was a photographer! !! I needed to capture all this… so on the hunt for a photog… well many brides have used Amanda Picone and now I know why from personal experience!! AMANDA is so sweet and amazing!! I am truly blessed to have been able to capture this special time in my life…. I have a few teasers and I will of course post some more pics when she sends them of some of the details I mentioned. Without further adieu… here are the few teasers I have!
