How much can BM dresses usually be taken in? My bm may need hers taken in 2 dress sizes....and I just ordered them in April, but she's lost a lot of weight since she gave me her measurments, and she's losing more. The weddings in 2 mo.

My friend got married a few months ago and her SIL was pregnant when they announced their wedding. The baby would have been born at the time of her wedding but it would only give her about two months to drop the baby weight. She normally wore a size 8/10 and she ordered her dress in a 16 to be safe. Needless to say, she lost all the baby weight and more and her dress had to be taken in 3 sizes. The top looked fine. The only think with the bottom was that the 'A-line' look sort of disappeared from the dress and it looked more like a straight skirt but you could hardly notice. It should be fine (especially if she has a good tailor).

I was in a wedding a little while back and with my measurements the store ordered me a dress that was about 3 sizes too big. I paid a lot in alteration but the dress came out fine. YOu just need a good tailor.

I had a flowy chiffon dress taken in from a 12 to a 2/4 once (when I was a 2!! ).

I have taken dresses down 2 sizes a bunch - those darn bridal shops insist on ordering me dresses 2 sizes too big - even though the samples are always too big for me! I have finally got the knack of convincing them to only go one size too big!

It depends on the material and style of the dress. You'll have to ask a seamstress. My FSIL had a baby and lost weight. She ordered a 12 and now needs a 4. Well, they can't take it in that much. We had to order a 4 and I'm trying to sell the 12.
