Just wanted to share..
After three months of boot camp in Parris Island, he graduates tomorrow morning. I'm really proud of him. FH and I fly to South Carolina tonight so we can see the ceremony and spend some time with him before he goes to NY for 10 days.
Has anyone been to Parris Island before? Just curious!! We are also looking for a place to get lunch in Charleston after the graduation is over, so if anyone has suggestions please feel free to share!!! Thanks!
4/9 update:
I'm back from Parris Island and just wanted to share...my brother looked great-tan and confident..he gained almost 30 lbs of muscle (he really needed it!!) and i got really choked up at the ceremony. I'm so happy we got to experience this. He left as a kid who was quiet, unsure of himself but has always been a nice kid...and after the three months he has gained so much self confidence and has a whole new outlook on life. Its amazing to me. To anyone who has family in the military, god bless them! I think they are doing an incredible thing.
Thats how i felt when my brother left for parris island. When my brother left, he had long hair was hanging with a bad crowd- my dad told him college or the military and my brother not only chose military but Marines. When we went to go visit him and seehim graduate I cried when I first saw him. He was just like you said about your brother- tan, muscular and the confidence was there! He was a whole new person. I was so proud of him. Where are they sending him first? My brother was in Japan for a year, North Carolina, California, Thailand... he traveled the world which he loved. Congrats to your brother!!!
Thanks for everything you guys said!
Kdelace...to answer your question...as far as we all know, he goes to North Carolina for more combat training for 9 weeks then he is off to California for a while..after that, we have no clue. He'll find out as time goes on, but he's excited. It really is amazing how much they change right? It was definitely without a doubt the best thing he could have done for himself. Congrats to your brother too!! :)
