Scott from DUET shot my engagement session yesterday at Central Park and afterwards South Street Seaport.
FH was a little nervous, because he never met the photographer before yesterday, but once they got into talking about photography (FH's hobby), we both were at ease knowing that this guy knew his stuff.
The photographer was so nice and patient with us. FH and I have never taken professional pictures like those, so we needed some direction, but Scott was creative and most of all patient and helped us all throughout the way.
Since we wanted to do TWO locations, the shoot took about 4 hours to complete.
Scott shot about 450 pictures (using rapid-shot and other techniques), and we get about 80-100 proofs after editing. From there we pick 1 for the wedding sign-in board.
We should have our proofs by early June. I guess Nicole will email us or call us to pick them up.
The engagement shoot is such a good idea for three reasons:
1) you get to know your photographer and his style BEFORE the wedding 2) you get to have professional pictures of you two in a casual setting (in our case two outstanding locations with beautiful scenery) 3) you get to feel like a celebrity when other people look at you being followed by a photographer and they decide to take pictures of you too!!

Re: My casual shoot... (long review)
yay, so glad you had a wonderful time! FI and I are looking forward to our e-shoot with Duet too, but we still have to decide when and where we would like it.
Thanks for the review!

Re: My casual shoot... (long review)
We loved our casual day shoot with Duet! It went so fast and we were sad when it was all over. Our proofs came back in two weeks! I am so happy you had a similar experience! Congrats!

Re: My casual shoot... (long review)
I had my casual day shoot with Duet yesterday as well. We had two photographers, our principal photographer was Jay.
We went to Old Westbury Gardens, gorgeous and so many places to take pics.
Can't wait to see your pics.

We are doing ours in 2 weeks and are thinking about having them taken at OWG as well.

Sounds like a great day! I am trying to convince my FH that the casual shoot would be a good idea, since we are both camera shy it would give us some familiarity with the camera. Thank I will show him your post. Good Luck all with Duet and the wedding planning!

Re: My casual shoot... (long review)
My FH is verrry shy as well. But once our photographer said: 'just walk and enjoy the view; speak about anything, etc.' we both felt right at ease.
I'll post some pics as soon as I get them.

Re: My casual shoot... (long review)
I'm having mine this Friday. I can't wait.
We are going to the beach since Flowerfield already has that feel taken care of.
Has anyone gone to the beach @ Sunken Meadow? I think that's where they told us we are going.
Any tips for the beach? Should I bring anything?
How much is a standard tip? I usually go above it anyway but wanted a ball park range.
Thanks Everyone for all your help the time that I have been on LIW and this thread.
Best Wishes,
Thomas
