my church just confused me!!!!????

ok so ive heard a couple of you talk about 'engaged encounter' as opposed to Precana.... (one of you went on accident lol, another of you are signed up for that retreat...)

WELLL i saw in St. Josephs marriage preparation guide thing in the Precana section that Engaged Encounter is mentioned, but not with many details, so i got all excited cuz i wanna do it!!!

so i call my church to ask the details (when, how much, how long, how do i sign up??) and the lady (who was SO RUDEEEEEE) tells me that i have to go to precana......................so i said 'what about the encounter? i want to know about that, im interested in doing that'

she said i have to go to precana and then i can find out about doing the engaged encounter..........

I THOUGHT IT WAS ONE OR THE OTHER?????????????????

is she full of cr@p?????? or does anyone know if in fact this is right, that i would have to do precana as well as the encounter if i wanted the encounter????

you shoudl talk to your priest...or look onliine at your diocsesean (sp?) website.

its the same thing.

ETA: before i registered for the wknd retreat, i set an appt with the priest to make sure it was 100% okay. and he was fine with it.

Anyways, it is either/or. You either have to go to PreCana OR you do the Engaged Encounter. It's one or the other, not both. Basically, she is full of crap!

when i called a church around where i am living i had a similar experience and the woman was of NO help after leaving me on hold forever!
I think we're prob gonna go with engaged encounter weekend because its probably easier!

i think it will be fun and different!! thats why i wanna do it, and im sure it is easier....

i think thats why the lady yelled at me, she probably is OLD SCHOOL and doesnt want couples doing it so she just refuses to tell me about it!

too bad for her im gonna show up there and talk to a priest!!

i also think it has to do with where the $ goes. if you do precana thru the parish, im sure they benefit. and we all know churches are having $ problems. i dont know if the $ gets directed to your parish if you do a wknd retreat, ya know

but seriously. talk to a priest. we are doing the one in huntington in november!!!!

my church never mentioned anything about engaged encounter and i have no idea what it is??? i'll have to look into this if its another option.... I really don't understand why those people answering the phones for the church always have an attitude, Next time talk to your priest, hopefully he'll be nicer!
