My DIY Monogram Cake Topper!

My DIY Monogram Cake Topper!

Here is my DIY Cake topper, It took about three days off and on. Three different size crystals in three different colors for each topper. My colors are orange, fucshia, and lime. So I did fucshia small letters, and orange large letter. I will have orange ribbon on the bottom of each layer of cake and green cymbidium orchids on the cake. I am so happy it is complete. The hardest part: dealing with the glue.

I got them from www.weddingcuts.com, I got 1/4 inch thich, but I think the 1/8 inch thick would be just fine and it cost less. They have many different fonts. I got the crystals from tamisplace.com, and the glue and tweezers from Walmart. Those were all the tools I used. Total cost: about $100, b/c I got many different size crystals.

I am trying to decide how many crystals in each size and color to buy. Do you know about how many crystals it took to cover your double letter cake topper? And what were the sizes you used? Thanks.

Re: My DIY Monogram Cake Topper!

Sorry, I've been so busy, hope its not too late to answer your question.
For the hot pink I used three colors and 3 sizes
9ss, 12ss, and 20ss. For the orange I used three colors too and three sizes: 5ss (did not have the 9ss when I ordered, but I ended up liking the spaces that the tiny ones were able to fill), 12 ss, and 20 ss. You by no means need to buy as many as I did to come out with a great looking topper. I also ended up with a bunch extra, so I am now gluing some to the handles of the cake cutting set (I got an inexpensive set so that I wouldn't feel bad about gluing the crystals to it). It looks great so far. By the way, the pictures do the monogram no justice. It looks really great in person!
