My dress

My dress

My dress came in. I went to look at it and try it on yesterday. I HATE IT. The dress is gorgeous but I look terrible in it... like a big fat white cream puff

I'm so depressed now. All I want to do is cry and I don't feel like planning anything. I have a florist appointment today and I don't even wanna go. There's nothing I can do about returning the dress so i'm stuck with it. I've never seen a bride that didn't look beutiful... but I guess there's a first time for everything

Thanks for listening!

Re: My dress

try putting it on when ur hair and make up is done. that always does the trick.

I am sure you look amazing!! You are just being hard on yourself and seeing only the negative. Did you go to see it with anyone? If so what were their thoughts. is it that TOM that makes everything anyone wears look terrible.

Really I can't imagine it looking bad you are a beautiful girl!!

Re: My dress

Was the store sample that you tried on in an ivory/cream/off white color? You may have been taken aback because of how stark white the dress was! I am afraid that will happen to me because the dress that I love in the store sample is like a gold color.
When you have your hair, makeup, jewelry, and veil on you will look and feel like a bride!

I am so sorry you're upset!!!!!

i agree with the other girls... maybe it was just an off day for you... im sure you looked beautiful!
if you try it on again though and still hate it... start looking for something else.. you shouldnt be a bride that hates her dress and feels uncomfortable in it...
but def try it on again...

Girlll don't you worry...Maybe you were just having a bad day. I agree with doing your hair and makeup and maybe you will feel better.

Re: My dress

Thanks for the encouragement but I'm not sure hair and makeup will change the way my body looks in the dress...

Here's the problem... When I tired it on in the store, it wasn't my size. It was way too small but I was able to get it on because it's a corset back and I didn't have to zipper it... I loved it because i thought it was just poofy enough without being too big..... but now that the dress is in my actual size, the skirt is too poofy and has too much material for a girl my size... so I look huge in it because there's so much dress.... I guess I shpuld have looked for a dress without pickups....

But now I'm stuck because I can't afford to buy another dress and still have to pay for this one...

Re: My dress

I agree with some of the other girls...do your make up and do your hair...hopefully it will make you feel better about it

ETA: can they do anything to alter it to make it less puffy? Take out a layer on the inside or something?

Re: My dress

Ask the seamstress if she can do something with the pickups. Maybe she can take some down. You can also try either putting on a less poofy slip or have them take the poof out of the dress itself. Your dress is really beautiful btw so i am sure you look gorgeous in it.

i'm so sorry ....maybe you should try it on a second time with ur BMs and get their opinions...maybe you're being too hard on yourself?

maybe there's some kind of alteration you can do so that it wont look soooo poofy??

Maybe the person who does the alterations can take out some of the under lying layers so it isn't so poofy and falls better for your body. Talk to them I am sure they deal with this kind of stuff all the time. It is very difficult to know what a dress is going to look like when it isn't your actual size. Believe me I KNOW! I passed up some beautiful gowns cause I couldn't get my big butt in them.

Don't give up!!

Re: My dress

Your dress is stunning and as some of the others have said ask the seamstress to remove some of the inner layers so that it will fall straighter instead of puffy. They are professionals and can do just about anything even make a dress that is a little too small fit properly.
You will be a beautiful bride.

Re: My dress

I looked at your dress and it is completely gorgeous. It is amazing what a good seamstress can do. Don't be discouraged. They can alter the neckline, remove or add pick-ups. When I went to Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, Lorraine was explaining to me how in some cases they can raise the waste line so that the pick-ups start higher and hide some areas (she lifted the dress slightly and it really made a huge difference). When I showed pictures of my dress to my dad - he said, 'wow, what a great smile' - because that's what people will be looking at. But, seriously, they can take stuffing out of the bottom of the dress also. It will be ok!

Re: My dress

We're all our own worst critics. It's so easy to be hard on ourselves.

I agree with the other girls, see if the seamstress can do something to remove some of the puffiness! I'm sure they can alter it properly for you

Re: My dress

Just remember the dress isn't even altered yet and nomatter how much they pin it in the back your still not going to have the true effect until it's actually altered to your body!! Don't be so hard on yourself....in the end you are going to look amazing!!!!!!!

Re: My dress

i dont know what it looks like underneath, but if theres crinilin or tulle they can definitely take some out!!!

sorry you feel that way, im sure you look gorgeous, and i agree with theo thers try getting your hair/make up done and try it on again you never know

Re: My dress

I agree with all the above.
#1)you are too pretty to look bad in such a gorgeous dress
#2) definately as the seamstress what she can do. If she says she cant do anything with it...bring it to someone else, because I am sure there is a seamstress somewhere who can make the dress more to what you envisioned.

Stay calm!!! Everything will work out!
