Re: my dress
you have to go with your gut. if you dont think you love it anymore, keep looking... you never know what will happen, you may realize that you are happy with the one you have, or you may find the one and be happy you looked around. i know you already bought the dress, so you already spent money, but you can always try to sell it.... you may not get every penny back, but at least youll feel better about your dress...

Re: my dress
i'd say try it on again... i think it's a lovely gown and prefer that to the one you 'think' you like.
can you get the sash altered out and replace it with a nice, sparkly belt? i think a newer, statement-making belt will do the trick!

Re: my dress
bring a picture to M&J trimmings in NYC. they will help you find some cool beaded/rhinestone applicays (sp?)
maybe thats all you need
like a cool brooch?

Re: my dress
your dress is simple and elegant. The one you're looking at is more couture. I agree, go have someone put some bling on it and I guarantee you'll see it differently.

Re: my dress
The gathered belt effect on your dress is very nice. I don't think it would be a good idea to try to change that or cover it with a belt. But maybe you could find thin strands of beading that could be sewn across the sashing to add a bit of bling. If strands of beads don't look good, maybe some individual beads sewn randomly would look nice and give you a bit more what you want.
around bway/seventh ave and 38/39th sts in the city are lots of fabric stores that have these type of things. there may be some on 6th ave too maybe browsing there would give you some ideas. I think around 6th ave and maybe 27th were also 1 or 2 places with bridal veils and tiaras. now I saw those maybe 6-7 years ago so those might not be there anymore.

now honestly, i like the gown you chose better, its very flattering and feminine, no offense to anyone but i think all that pleating on the other dress kind of cheapeans it a little, jmho
I tottally agree! The first one is more flattering, it just needs to be fitted for you; the top is sweet and lovely. Yes, on the second one the pleating may look cool in the picture, but I have found it is very unflattering because it will give you no shape at all and it may just flow out and not look so good. JMO!!

Re: my dress
I went through the same thing and even posted my concerns and all of the girls except one said they went through the same thoughts.
I went to try it on again and got the same feeling and said YES this is MY DRESS!

Re: my dress
oh AND I really like the first dress. And when you say there is no WOW factor, we all feel like that until the day comes!! When hair is done, veil is on, etc. Then when the WHOLE package is together it's like WOW!

Re: my dress
I think your original dress is beautiful!
and i'm sure once its altered to fit you perfectly you'll be much happier... however, if you're this stressed maybe you should go try on that dress again along with others and see how you feel it may be worth spending extra money to be in LOVE with your dress.

Re: my dress
i think the dress that you have is beautiful! i bought a dress from filene's also and there are times when i second guess my dress too b/c i always wanted a more fitted dress but when i go back and look at the pictures of the dress, i know i made the right choice. The dress was also too big on me and i think that's why i was second guessing it b/c it didn't fit me properly but when i went to go get it tailored and they pinned up the dress, I saw how much more beautiful the dress was. I think you need to try it on again and if you really feel like you don't love it, I would sell it. I'm sure you'll get more money back that what you paid for the dress

Re: my dress
I LOVE my dress- no other dress compared to it. I feel like a princess in it- and every time I've had it on- I didn't want to take it off. I tried on TONS of other dresses and always compared them to MY dress and they didn't ever add up.
Having said all that-
I have had moments of panic thinking I'll hate my dress when I try it on again or that I'll look stupid.
Anyway- If you don't feel like a PRINCESS in your dress... like you are going to make JAWS drop- than- just sell that one and get another.
It sounds like you need a day at a dress store with more than just ONE friend with you.
now- that I've said ALL that.... I will say I think your dress is elegant and beautiful. I wish I could see the back! Good Luck!
