My dress fears came true... Now what?! (now with pic, thanks to somedaybride)

I ordered my dress back in May (we are getting married 4/04). At the time, I was sure it was the one, had all those feelings people talk about, etc. I tried on about 50 dresses, and couldn't stop thinking about this one, went back 3 separate occasions to try it on, and just loved it. Since then I've had the occasional twinge of 'what if....?', but every one said when I try it on, I will fall in love with it again.

Well, I went today to try it on for the first time, and guess what? I wasn't crazy about it at all. I put it on and said, 'It's okay.' Then I just felt numb. I took it off and left. On the way home, I was like, what the he11 was I thinking when I ordered that dress?!?

I am at a loss. I feel stupid to say I'm devestated, but I'm close to it.

Has anyone heard of salons crediting the deposit towards another dress? Do you think I have a chance? I wanted to call and ask them, but I think if they told me no today, I would have fell apart.

Any advice?

I wish I could help in some way, but I, too, bought my dress early.. i keep hoping i'll love it in a year too!

They may npt have ordered it yet- call and ask. They may let you switch. Call asap.

I have definitely heard of salons transferring your deposit - particularly if the other dress hasn't been ordered yet (by the salon, not by you).

Definitely call and ask! How much of a deposit did you leave? Is it worth losing? Do you have another dress in mind? (the salon may need to know if they can get that one)

Wendy; I have questioned everything I have picked so far, and most of it is nerves. Give yourself time to think about it if you can, maybe if the dress needs alterations that might alter your perception of the dress a little bit.

wendypoo, the samer thing happen to me and I freaked. But after I went for my first fitting I realized why I loved my dress.

I went and tried other dresses on and it made be feel better.

This is the dress they ordered ( it came in a few weeks ago). They required a deposit of half, so I will lose $1500! But then again, do I want to be unhappy with my dress? It's so important to me. I don't want to look at my pictures and cringe.
I will call tomorrow and ask......

Groovypeg, I got it from Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. Wacky, I did take a couple of pics. I don't think it's horrible, just not the wow I remember and I hoped for. I think I could find soemthing better, and more my style. Wacky, did you really have the same experience?

I do, but I'm embarrassed to say I don't know how to send them. It's a Lazaro from the spring 2003 collection (LZ 1033).
