My dress fears came true... Now what?! (now with pic, thanks to somedaybride)
Original post by wenndypoo
I ordered my dress back in May (we are getting married 4/04). At the time, I was sure it was the one, had all those feelings people talk about, etc. I tried on about 50 dresses, and couldn't stop thinking about this one, went back 3 separate occasions to try it on, and just loved it. Since then I've had the occasional twinge of 'what if....?', but every one said when I try it on, I will fall in love with it again.
Well, I went today to try it on for the first time, and guess what? I wasn't crazy about it at all. I put it on and said, 'It's okay.' Then I just felt numb. I took it off and left. On the way home, I was like, what the he11 was I thinking when I ordered that dress?!?
I am at a loss. I feel stupid to say I'm devestated, but I'm close to it.
Has anyone heard of salons crediting the deposit towards another dress? Do you think I have a chance? I wanted to call and ask them, but I think if they told me no today, I would have fell apart.
Any advice?

Gorgeous dress. Maybe go back another day, and try it on again. Don't go if you have PMS, though! I used to second-guess everything during PMS! lol.

oooohhhh groovypeg - you are nosey !! Well, I went yesterday to try it on again. This time I brought my crinolin, headpeice, veil, put my hair up, put on some make up..... The girl at the salon was very helpful and held the back of the dress for me so I could see how it would look when it was fitted. Aaannnnnd... it made a HUGE difference! It didn't just hang on me, and I love the full skirt! It looked like it did when I first tried it on. I am so relieved, and happy with my dress!!! ( and a bit embarassed too , helllooo psycho bride!). A million thank you's to all of you for your wisdom, kind words and encouragement!! You guys are great!

YEAY!!!! I am glad it worked out. I was just curious what Bridal Reflections would do for you if you did not like the dress. Did they say anything as to what recourse you might have if you did not like it?

Groovypeg I was too nervous to ask! I did mention that I wan't crazy about my veil, and they told me there is a woman there who is a 'veil designer' and can help me make changes to it, so they were somewhat helpful in that respect, although there's a big difference between a veil and a dress! Is your dress in yet? Have you seen it?

Which Bridal Reflections did you go to? My daughter ordered her gown from the Massapequa location and the 'veil designer' sounds interesting. Just wondering if we will get to meet her. Thank you and congratulations on your gown. I too was very impressed with it. It is gorgeous.

Re: My dress fears came true... Now what?!
You can also talk to the store rep and ask her for some help. I LOVED my gown but of course there were tons of pictures of new dresses that I saw and loved. It is very natural to feel that this decision is sooo huge and final.
I really loved my dress when I bought it...but when I put it on when it came in I wasn't crazy about it...mostly b/c my mother said she couldn't believe that I liked something with so much beading on it...now my mother is a very ornate type of person...loves everything victorian...so when she said that I immediately thought that it was too much beading and I wanted more plain...
but the day of the wedding...so many people told me exactly what I wanted to hear...that it was a classic looking dress and was perfect for the wedding (without even knowing the story)

Thanks, it's reassuring to hear so many of you guys had a similar experience. I felt like such a flake! Michele you're right, it feels like such an enormous decision. But I do love my dress !
LImom, it is BR in Massapequa, the womans name is.... Martha I think. They didn't mention anything to me about her untill I asked.
