My Dress on Ebay

My Dress on Ebay

I've tried on a few dresses and love an Ines Di Santo dress, but it retails for 4,000 and that's more than I wanted to spend.

Someone is now selling it on Ebay used only once for their wedding day--for 1,500. The dress size is listed at 10. If I bought the dress from a boutique I'd order an 8 and then take it in at the bust and waist.

I'm hesitant to make the purchase because I'm looking forward to doing more dress shopping with my mom since I haven't tried that many dresses on yet but this is a great deal.

What do you think girls, should I buy it?

I would be a little hesitant to buy something that expensive on Ebay for my wedding (without seeing it in person).

But if you are make sure to check their feedback and how long they have been a member 1st.

Thats a tough one. I guess you could buy it and continue to shop. And if you find somthing else you could always stick it back on ebay.

If you love the dress just buy it retail at like a trunk show...that way you have someone to direct questions about alterations/bustling...don't risk it...u could end up wasting $1500

Are you 100% sure that you love the dress? Because 2500 off the value is great! But def make sure you love it before you spend $1500.

With something this expensive and that Ebay is known for fakes, I wouldn't..

I would be very hestitant to buy something as important as that on Ebay - you never know if it's truly the designers or a fake. I know you could always buy and sell it back if you don't want it but there is always that chance you yourself may not be able to re-sell because no one will believe it's not a fake - you know what I mean?

I agree with someone who suggested to wait for a trunk show. You can get an awesome deal on a dress at those and at least the dress is there for you to try on first hand.

instead of ebay, you might want to check out second hand dresses. theres a few websites out there where ppl (like us) sell their wedding dresses b/c they no longer want to keep it.

Is the Ebay seller close to here or in driving distance? Sometimes with a purchase that big they will let you come see/try on the dress.

I wouldn't rush into it. I'd try on more dresses. But, think about it this way -- which will you regret more? Not getting the dress at the discounted price, spending too much on your dream dress, or buying something that isn't what you really want?

My sister in law got her dress on ebay. It was a pricey dress that she really wanted.

She loved it. But I could see it being scary!

Did you get measured at the store for the Ines dress to definitely know you need a size 8?

Every designer has different measurements for their dresses. As you know, I had an Ines dress and my size was a 12. I'm a street size 6 or 8. But it varies for everyone.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it unless you can try it on first.

are there any other bids on it? If not, she'll probably post it again, maybe for less...
Worst case: There's always more dresses to fall in love with

I agree with the other ladies. I wouldn't do it. There are so many dishonest sellers on ebay, keep looking to see if you find the dress somewhere else.

Re: My Dress on Ebay

Thanks girls. I'm probably not going to get it, mostly because I'm really looking forward to going dress shopping with my mom, I haven't even experience this yet.

I did try this dress on (the same style) at bridal reflections in Carl Place, so I know I did love it on. I'm pretty sure I would be an 8, I'm usually smaller in regular sizes. I ordered an 8 for a jim hjelm bridesmaid dress I wore a few years ago and the girl at bridal reflections said I'd probably be an 8 when I asked.

I know for sure I'm selling my dress after the wedding preowned wedding dresses to make some of the money back

I think some more reputable sites for buying wedding dresses are

http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/

and

http://www.oncewed.com/used-wedding-dresses/

Remember, they're still seller trying to sell their dresses like people on ebay, but for some reason I would feel more comfortable buying a dress, or a veil, from one of these sites. Hope that helps!

or you could still get it off on ebay but make sure to check the review of that seller.
