Re: My Duet Visit

Wow their prices have definitely gone up once they gained in popularity. The platinum package was about $4000 in early 2004.

Re: My Duet Visit

i think it was around 3500 in 2003.

Re: My Duet Visit

yea, but that package still doesn't included all patken does. I didn't hear any mention of parents albums, and only 50 thank you isn't enough for us. We are inviting 300. When we visited them in Jan, the silver was $3400 and plat. was $5000. I don't like how their prices rise so fast

Be careful with Patken -- ALL of their pictures are in weird sizes -- 11x11, 8x8, etc. This is so you have to get them mounted by them -- it can get pretty expensive. It's not easy at all to find frames in a regular store for sizes like that.

Re: My Duet Visit

true, but I do all my framing custom at Michaels. My friend is a manager their and I get 20% off. The only wierd size is 8x8, you also get 8x10 and 16x20 which are normal sizes

Re: My Duet Visit

Then maybe they changed their policy -- they told me the only sizes available were 8x8, 11x11 and 18x22. The reason, they said, is because they use 'special film'.

Re: My Duet Visit

strange, cause we are using normal film. I don't like digital

Thanks for posting Cindy. This is really helpful. How much are they charging for video? I like 2nd package but I don't need videography.

I'm also a duet bride. The best way to handle duet and booking any photographer is to go in knowing exactly what you need. Duet should be able to add things to your package or exchange the big 16x20 for a couple of 5x7s. I was able to get everything i needed added into my package. You just have to know what you want. FM if you need more specific details.

the reason for those odd sizes is because most photgraphers who use film use a square film, not 35 mm film, which creates square proofs.... and square images... however, those images can be cropped so they can fit into standard sizes....

also, duet has raised their prices at least twice in the last year... when i went to visit i was told that they were raising prices in 3 days and i had to make my decision that quick!! that was too much pressure for me!

hope this info helps!

Cortney, that's the same thing Eric said to us. He would still offer us the 2004 rate until the first week of January. Which only gave me a few days to decide. Then I read on the boards that someone had booked with the 04 rates 3 weeks into 05. I didn't like being rushed either.

Re: My Duet Visit

I felt extremely rushed into booking with Duet, another reason I didn't book there. I went the end of Jan and they told me prices were going to change that monday, it was sunday. Maybe that something they always say or do. I still think their work is great, just not my style.

I haven't looked at any photographers yet. Are these Duet prices higher than average, or are they just higher than they used to be before they got popular?

I am a duet bride and they were sooooooooo accomodating with the price and things we added. He threw in a bunch of stuff for free and changed things we needed. LOVE them!

Re: My Duet Visit

Did they tell you how much a deposit would be?
