My Duet Visit (now including a 3rd package with details and pricing)

Original post by cmastro25

I haven't looked at any photographers yet. Are these Duet prices higher than average, or are they just higher than they used to be before they got popular?

I have quite a few more enlargements and more thank you's with 2 engagement sittings, all proofs on CD as well as in an album for less money than that with Patken.

I'm starting to look at photographers and am looking at Duet. I have heard concern on this site, and than today I noticed it over the phone: the language barrier. For you Duet brides out there, and even those of you who have met them...do you see it being an issue?

I had a hard time with it, but my bm who came with me, who is using them already, helped me a lot...

Have you looked anywhere else????

Is the casual photo the engagement photo??

I haven't looked anywhere else, but I will most more packages when I have them. The enlargement is something you choose from the 'casual shoot' they like to do before your wedding. Also, here is their info:
Duet
[email protected] www.duetwedding.com
712 E. Jericho Turnpike
Huntington Station, NY 11746
Phone : (631) 673-8783

They have a NY offfice as well but I don't know the address. Should be on their website.

yea, but that package still doesn't included all patken does. I didn't hear any mention of parents albums, and only 50 thank you isn't enough for us. We are inviting 300. When we visited them in Jan, the silver was $3400 and plat. was $5000. I don't like how their prices rise so fast

You'd have to choose the platinum package for the parent albums and 120 thank yous.

I also realized that there is one more package I forgot to post. I'll add it now.

Thanks for posting Cindy. This is really helpful. How much are they charging for video? I like 2nd package but I don't need videography.

They didn't offer me a separate price as I want the package, but go to see them and they will offer you a price.

Also, to answer someone else's question on deposits:
Deposit = 20% on signing, 30% after 3 months, 40% day of wedding, 10% when you get proofs.

Do any of the packages contain digital albums or are they more traditional? Thanks so much in advance. The prices are real competitive, considering video is included. Velvet Studio and Patken were near 5 with the digital album/magazine style album alone.

To be honest, it was a while ago, so I'm not 100% but I believe they were all digital coffee table books.

you are def able to negotiate those prices. I added an engagement session and upgraded my photo album to my package for only a tiny bit.

We did feel a little pressure to sign the contract today when we were there, but we also had the date held for us for a few weeks now. We wanted to bring the contract home and look it over.

my suggestion: ask to see the terms and conditions page before you go. See if they can fax it to you or email it so when you go there you don't feel a little overwhelmed with all the legalities. Because they will try to get you to sign on the spot. We did because we are far and I felt comfortable enough.

The ONLY thing I don't like is that the album we chose, we cannot get a leather cover. We went for the traditional album. It's a little disappointing to me. But I'm sure I'll get over it.
