As many of you know I have complained many times in the past that everytime I get something done to my e-ring (wax model made, cleaning, etc) something is ruined or broken...just recently my diamond fell out (luckily I saw it happen) and was told that I would have to get 6 prongs instead of 4...its been alot and my ring has been fixed way too many times in the 9 months we have been engaged... well anyhow last night FH surprised me and took me to the jewler to pick out or design a different setting. I thought it was really cute of him.. but my ring has so much sentimental value that I don't want to change it already... I ended up talking to the woman and am going to pretty much add on to my ring to make it more sturdy and solid and change the side diamonds.. but in the end it is still going to be my ring.. However its not cheap.. and now I feel super guilty that with all the wedding expenses and the economy the way it is I am spending money to 'upgrade' my e-ring (in a way). I don't know what to do.
Part of me wants to do this now b/c i am getting a custom made wedding band and I dont want to have to get another one or have it adjusted if I decide to do this later on..
but like i said I think all of this wedding planning has my priorities all mixed up!
Ok the end. Thanks for listening to me ramble.

Its better to pay that money for a quality ring than to pay more money if loosing your diamond somewhere down the road.

ITA.... the sentiment wouldn't be lost if you changed the setting. Especially since it's for practical reasons!

Defintiely not worth feeling bad about!! It needs to be done. You want your ring to be safe and if you need to do that you might as well make improvements. Be excited and happy not worried or feeling bad.

Don't feel bad- your ring will still have the same sentimental value no matter what and you'll never ever have to worry about something bad happening to your E-Ring ever again.
