My fantastic Rehersal Dinner Idea!
My dad LOVES, I mean is OBSESSED with his garden. It reminds him of his home in Italy. Its lush, it has a fig tree and its his pride and Joy. My Grand parents (from Italy) lived with us all our lives, and after my grandpa passed when i was a child, the garden has been symbolic to him. That garden was created b/w my dad and grandpa.
One of my favorite memories of Italy was the family get togethers in the gardens. Fh and I loved how romantic yet family oriented it was.
So to make Daddy feel special, and to bring that true essence of Italy home, we decided to ask my dad if we can host the Rehersal dinner at my parents house, in the garden. He was SOOOOOOOO EXCITED. It will end up coming out less than the restaurant, and now we can all relax in the evening with our families, enjoy each other and really feel like we are back in Italy. If it rains, we have tents that we can use and my father has an awning in the backyard as well.
But I think this was probably one of the most sincere things I have done this entire wedding. I really love the idea of being 'home'. We plan on putting out a long table for dinner, decorate it with the flowers from the garden, and also lay out some blankets and pillows for guest to lounge on. We are going to ask everyone to bring a dish, and we are going to cater in from my father's friend's butcher shop some food as well.
It will remain classy, but it will totally be reminicent of our time in Italy together.
