My father is redoing his kitchen
What would you say is the best in terms of durability and price for countertops? Corian?Has anyone just gone to Home Depot (in Freeport) to order stuff and have them install it? Did you find their estimate the best? Quality work putting everything in?
As for flooring, do you think Pergo would be stupid, or tiling? I'd love for him to get a new stove, and he'd need a fan for above the stove. Anyone have any suggestions? Nothing too high priced.
TIA!

Re: My father is redoing his kitchen
When we redid our kitchen we looked into Corian we noticed it was in the same price family as Granite, so I think it is a matter of prefernce and how much time he is willing to spend to treat it. Granite should be sealed twice a year. Their is also Silestone which is I think quartz with a sealer in it already and it is maintance free. We went to a place in Farmingdale, E&S Marble and Granite. They had great prices and were very knowledgable and do great work.

Re: My father is redoing his kitchen
Adrianna,Thanks for the tip. My dad is retired so his monetary spending on redoing the kitchen is limited. I'd love for him to get Corian or maybe the Silestrone if the price is right, and may have to boycott the house if he gets....ugh...Formica....but I'll have to 'suggest' it and see what happens.

Re: My father is redoing his kitchen
Here is our kitchen before we the countertop was put in i have recent pictures but i have to download them. We actually bought Ikea cabinets. They are made better than their furniture and really hold up well. The kitchen needed to be updated and there was no storage in the original kitchen. So with our tight budget we decieded on these and are very happy with them.the pictures are to big

Re: My father is redoing his kitchen
My MIL has Corian and it scratches. I have granite and it always looks great! We had Pergo in our other house and I hated it. It floats so every now and then two pieces wouldn't be meeting correctly. Tile is durable, easy to clean and there are so many different colors and styles to choose from.Welcome New Vendors
