Me and FH can't wait!!!! But we will... atleast until after the wedding. I will be the first one to have a baby out of my brothers and sisters. FH will be the first one to have a baby in his family too. His mom can't wait.

serious question to the ladies
i see some of you plan exactly when you want to get pregnant, such as you want to be pregnant by so and so month or for example fall of 08...do any of you wonder about the fact that it can be a long process and not everyone gets pregnant right away? I know ppl who tried for months and many even for a year or 2 or longer and it wasn't happening...i am just asking bc i am curious if ppl are preparing for this possibility...see this is the exact reason why i WON'T plan it...i dont want to disappoint myself, ive seen what others go through and i dont want to sit here and expect to be pregnant by lets say feb 09 for example and it doesnt happen and this goes on for a while...i am honestly really scared about going through this

I agree I was actually going to write god willing that we can plan for that. This is a huge fear of mine... I've talked to the doctor about it too and because I've been on the pill for so many years i am freaked out about it! he said come this March we will stop the pill and start the prenatal vitimans and hopefully all goes as planned otherwise I will have to take it as it comes...

It's so true. One of my very best friend's is having trouble conceiving and they were married in 2004.

I took a seminar on assisted reproduction and adoption and infertility or difficulty getting preg is a very real thing. the book 'waiting for daisy' is an easy read and really gives insight into the experience from the POV of someone who has been through it all.
FH and I want to wait.. we'll only be 24 when we get married and I'll have 1 more year of law school left. I'd like to have 2-3 years at my new job before we try, but if it accidentally happens sooner that's ok (as long as it's after the wedding!) I'm scared to wait too long in case we have any problems.... it's a toss up.

Thats a tricky question for me. Honestly, me and FH arent sure we want kids at all. So were pretty comfortable with what happens. If we dont get pregnant then we dont. I know a lot of people dont think of it that way cause IM in the minority when it comes to wanting to have children.

but in all seriousness i am very nervous for this. therefore i am not plannning. i know i want to wait several yrs and enjoy being a newlywed but not planning a time of the year

I've broached this subject with FH... basically, you can't go into it thinking like that. It's like living your life wondering everyday if you're going to get hit by a car. I think it's great to plan a pregnancy and I think it's just as great to let 'whatever happen, happen'... but to live in fear that it won't happen isn't fair to YOU. IMO, positive thinking goes a long way

I'm not planning on being pregnant at any specific time b/c honestly I dont even know if i'm going to be able to get pregnant on my own (without help of meds or anything) I have medical issues and I know infertility is like my #1 side effect and i've spoken to my docs about it before. So FH and I always said if it happens at any time then we well be so happy and blessed. Otherwise I'm going to need some help, which is totally fine with me. Knowing my luck i'll take drugs and end up with sextuplets or something lol

I was going to recommend the same book. It really was a great book and changed my thinking on how far I would go to have a child. For FH and I, we'll only be 22 when we get married and don't want children for at least 5-6 years. It's the first time we'll be living on our own, we would have just finished school and we don't want to be tied down just yet.

yeah i hope ppl didnt take my post wrong, i was asking in a curious way...the reason why is bc of how much i think about it, and how scared i am about that fact...i am soooo sorry about your best friend but i pray it will happen soon ...our pre-cana had a kid but tried to have a second(many years ago) she said she tried for 7 years and talked about how hard that was for her and what she went through.
Also, fh's friends had been trying for a while and we were so excited this year when she said she was pregnant and infact she is having the baby THIS friday, its c-section...so tell your friends to hang in there

OH I agree, i think i will have kids but i also think i will take a bit longer and i expect this and its fine and thats why i dont want to set my heart on being pregnant at a specific time and trying all the time just to be disappointed...this way i can try but no time frame in mind so when it happens we'll be happy.
I am gonna talk to my gyno more about this today...coincidentally i have an appointment after work, i had hormonal problems for close to a year and it was fine up until recently and its started again. I do think ill end up with 3 or 4 kids lol but just that it wont be a real quick process.

Thanks. I just try to do what I can to support her. It's hard for her because her brothers all have families and her DH's cousin's all have children so they really want this. They were hoping to be pregnant for their one year anniversary. It's definitely something very stressful to deal with.

oh wow 7 kids, i love big families.
Yeah see not that ill go into thinking it won't happen but i dont want to set my heart on a specific time and it not happening...i am fine with the fact that maybe it would take me more tries i am going into it knowing to prepare for this possibility. Of course while im trying i wont think 'its not gonna happen' ill hope for the best and then when it doesn't happen just have to move on and keep trying, and theres nothing wrong with trying
