Seriously, how many of you are staying within your wedding budget?

Did you and your FH have a budget, or are you winging it?

started with a budget and it just got out of hand! So over we might as well have been winging it the entire time....we had to change a ton of things..

We kind of had a dollar amount in mind that we didn't want to go over but nothing was set in stone. I have to say though we are only going to be over by very little. I tried my very hardest to not go over.

ehhh we're kind of winging it....we take it vendor by vendor....the joke is that there arent going to be any flowers at our wedding

We started out with a ridiculous budget, it was laughable. Mostly because FH and I had NO idea how much things REALLY cost.

I would suggest to anyone who has just started planning to have a look around and call at least 5 sifferetn places for each vendor before trying to create a workable budget.

If FH even considered half of this expense,he would have chosen to elope.

everything is so expensive.. it's ridiculous..

we're doing vendor by vendor.. and so far we've been good!

my initial budget was ridiculous!! I had no idea the usual cost of vendors and i budgeted everything way too low.

so now we're just going with 'the cheaper the better'

I enlisted the help of a budget analyzer, like so many of the wedding websites have, and I found their percentages to be random as well as ridiculous.

my dress was far less than what 'the budget analyzer' suggested I should spend, and the % of money allowed for entertainmanet and food was grossly undercut IMO.

How does one figure this out?

we're pretty much winging it, taking it vendor by vendor. we originally had a # in mind, and that went completely out of the window, but we're not doing too badly either.

We started out with a budget but I don't even know what happened to it things just start adding up and at this point with only 23 days left I couldn't even tell you where we are at!!!

We never really had a budget. But we are definetly over what we thought it would cost. Thank god my parents are paying for most of it. I don't know what we would have done.

its hard to go by that...some things are more important to some than others. Plus you cant go by a budget that is suggested for ALL brides...all brides have different budgets and not every bride will spend the same amount on everything. The best way to set a budget is to just go by what you and fh can do. Figure out how much time youhave until the wedding, how much you two will make until then(after taxes) minus all bills you pay regularly such as rent, mortgage, utilities, car, insurance and so on and see what youre left with and leave some of that for spending.

Plus many of those budget analyzers are for all states and what things cost here are different in other states

I helped 'plan' for a lot of my friends.. so I had an idea of what I was looking for and my parents and FH also had specifics that they wanted.. so it worked out.. and I just adjusted bits and pieces here and there to match what I had in mind..

I don't want to spend a dime more than what I need to.. meaning without compromising quality.. with about 400 guests, it's very hard to cut corners and cut prices.. but I'd like to think I'm trying my best..

eta: I meant to say what i had in mind price wise.. some of my friends had no issues tossin' out paper and plastic.. i can't afford to do that..

I pretty much thought about it like you did. I had no idea how much things really cost, so my 'budget' was laughable as well.

I feel insane sometimes when I think about all the money being spent on this one day. Sure, its a very special day. But it is just one day.
