was not exactly diligent in giving us names and addresses for the wedding. She would give either just the first initial, no first initial (i.e. Mr & Mrs Smith), leave off zip codes, street names spelled wrong, etc etc. So today we get an RSVP back with the guys first name crossed out and his correct name written above (we did the personalized resp cards so the names were already on it). She told us his name was Robert...his name is William I feel so embarassed but hopefully they know it's her mistake, being I've never met these people before.

i went through the same thing!!!!! ughhh and i even said to her i need full first and last names it is a formal wedding

You should mention it to FMIL.
Don't fret too much. Everyone was spelling my first name wrong on the Shower cards _ from both sides!!!

This has happened with us a couple of times...more mispellings though.
John instead of Jon Molly instead of Mollie Edison instead of Edizen (my weird cousin's weird husband haha).
THE WORST was that we invited someone as Mr. & Mrs. Blah Blah....but they were divorced!! I felt bad that he got the letter addressed that way
