My friends father was killed last night (LONG)

I don't know if any of you watch the news but a drunk/ DUI driver was being pursued by the police in Farmingdale (out of their jurisdiction mind you through a residential area) and the driver lost control and crashed through his house killing him while he was watching TV in his living room. My friend was downstairs in the basement at the time and he basically watched his father die when he came upstairs. He was pinned under the car from 2:35 pm until around 11:15 pm last night.

He's the drummer from my FI band and he's a very good friend. I feel terrible for him. He's not even allowed back there right now. They evacuated the house because they were afraid it would collapse when they pulled the car out. I'm very nervous for him. He was VERY close with his father and he does not get along with his mother.

Its really a very scary and terrible tragedy. This year has been the WORST year of my entire life and the lives of those around me with the exception of getting engaged.

You all have been so great about support and prayers. I'm asking for them now for Brian and his father's soul. Its a terrible way to die. He was retiring in June.

hes staying with lorraine?

He's actually staying with his mom for a bit and then he's going to sell the house and Lorraine and he are going to get an apt. Its all kinda up i nthe air right now. They didn't even pull Mr Calhoun out until around 11:15 last night. They were afraid the house was going to collapse

Horrible news, its so sad. As a person who drinks I NEVER get behind the wheel of a car and can't simply understand why people do over and over again. Its a sad thing to take a life away due to your stupidity.

Me too...they're talking to lawyers now. My FI is over there with him gathering up his stuff. Thanks everyone

I couldn't agree more.

I'm so very sorry to hear about yet another tragedy involving driving under the influence. It literally breaks my heart every single time I see another life destroyed, another family in mourning and so many hearts broken... My condolences to your friend who lost a Father, their entire family and everyone involved... I'm so, so sorry.

Nothing that anyone can say will make it better but at least you have some support which can comfort you (and hopefully your friend) at this time.

I see so many of these stories around the Holidays- makes me apprehensive when Christmas time comes around- it's like I don't want it to come b/c I know these things are going to happen
