my hair stylist, tragedy & confusion

Original post by florezpeeps

my hair stylist knew my hair & the way i feel about it better than anyone could, i sat in the chair and made sign language & he'd get it everytime..for years we talked about dying it & when i finally worked up the nerve to put redish streaks in it last november he wasn't surprised at all to see me walk in a month later with it all back to black..he laughed at me & said he knew it, it just wasn't me (that's why he refused to strip & do blonde highlights, he convinced me I'd weene myself there if I could) he was so right to do that, he wasn't insulted, he just told me i was silly for spending over 200 on high lights only to spend 8 bucks covering them, lol...ah Albert..we talked about my wedding hair every visit since i got engaged last february...he knew exactly what i have pictured, i had my appt with him for 11am on my wedding day, scheduled at the beginning of this year..

I got a call from my salon 2 weeks ago..

'Albert passed away'

I have not thought about my wedding hair since the call, coming to terms with the fact he is gone, my hair magician, my stylist, my Albert.

I am worried, no one but him has touched my hair in years..

He had a heart attack..it makes no sense, he wasn't old (perhaps 50 or so)..a few years ago he stopped eating badly and at night and he dropped a lot of weight (I believe 40 lbs or so), he looked great..I'm not exaggerating, the last time he did my hair was on Denise's wedding day, and he was his normal bright eyed, bushy tailed self, cutting and blowing my hair out at 8:45 in the morning

omg, I never thought that would day would be the last day I saw him.

Thank you girls for your kind words. It's really hard bc I feel awful that I even think about myself when I think about his passing..thats why I titled 'confusion' bc, I feel like a scumbag for thinking about my wedding hair at all..I do think about his wife, his daughters (that he was always proud to tell me about, one started college last year) and how hard it is for them, but wish my thoughts ended there..but my mind doesn't stop..

That's so sad. Just proves, you just never know. I'm sure the girl they recommend will do a great job with your hair.
I feel so bad for Alberts family.

Good luck.

Re: my hair stylist, tragedy & confusion

i know i already replied to this but your story (albert's story) just makes me so sad. i've had several people close to me die unexpectedly and young and there is no way to wrap your brain around it. my heart really goes out to his family and all that knew him.

i don't think you are a 'scumbag' for thinking about your wedding hair! i think it's natural since that is a day you were going to share with him.

roseanna amador did my hair for my wedding and she was fantastic so when you are ready i would definitely recommend a trial with her.

also, i did want to tell you that i have a really spectacular hairdresser in manhattan so if you ever want his number, FM me. i've been going to him for almost 10 years and that's not just because he's a great stylist but also because he's such an amazing guy.

i hope you feel better

My friend loves her guy at AF Bennet. I could ask the name if you want to try.
