a few days ago Amy51708 posted a mothers day gift idea she used. i thought it was the cutest thing ever, so i started to make it for my mom and so far it's really cute!!
it's a mason jar filled with 52 pieces of folded paper. each note says something nice about, or is a memory about your mom...or just something you know will make her smile. and starting on mothers day, continuing every sunday for the next year, she can open another one.
i thought it was adorable...here is mine...i'm not finished, i bought a glass painting set so i'm going to paint the jar, but i think it's cute so far...and if anyone is looking for a really cheap gift idea with a lot of meaning in it, this is awesome.
sorry, took me a second to resize. there they are.

You did a great job! It looks really close to the one I made. You might want to include something for your mom to save the ones she has already opened and read. My mom tried to keep them separate inside the jar not sure if that really worked.
Have a good day.

it's funny you mentioned it b/c last night i was trying to think of something creative i could do, like giving her a weekly calendar that she could pin them up on or something...but nothing seems to work well enough...i'm gonna keep brainstorming and see if i can come up with something interesting.
thanks again!

yeah it's not easy, but i've already done about 15 of them, and FH is going to write a few too. last night i didn't sit there and try to think of them, i was doing other things, and stopping to write things as they came to me.

Re: my hijacked mothers day gift
Maybe she can just put them in an envelope and next year for Mothers Day you can post them in a book for her and that way she can keep it forever.
I will try to think of other things

I love the idea Jeanette...so creative...and soo sweet...I am sure your mom will LOVE it...
But for the ones she already opens maybe you can do this:
have about 4 or 5 nice long colored ribbons that she can hang in her room somewhere like on a wall or by a window or something- then using those nice pins (like the ones you get in boutineers (sp?? haha) and pin the paper to the ribbon
so like the writings on the paper are each pinned to the ribbon like leave an inch between each piece of paper and then pin the next sundays writing ---let me see if i can find a pic of what i mean
that way she can always read them if she wants cause they are out in the open but in some place more private then the living room in case you wrote some private things on them lol

awwwwww that is so cute!!
i was trying to think of something i give her so she could keep them...i was going to make her a little 4x6 book with 52 pages so she could paste one on each page and put 'the week of...' on the top of the pages.
but i really love your idea!! that's so cute and she could have them hanging in her bedroom!!
not to mention, i have TONS of ribbon. being a mad scrapbooker comes in handy when making projects! lol!
thanks for the idea!
