MY LANDLORD WAS IN MY GARBAGE!!!

I think he was just looking for soda bottles but i watched him elbow deep in my garbage.. it was pretty gross, and i know this is going to sound weird, but i felt invaded even though it was garbage..

hes kind of old though about 80 and maybe its just his old age...

still bothers me though..

Was he going threw it for recycling??

My dad (poor guy) has to do this with our tenants. They NEVER recycle and WE get fines for it!

same as cat, my dad has to do it also. The fines are not cheap either I told him to pass the fine to the tenants that cause it

I have cought my own landlord doing this a few times and came straight out and asked him, did you loose something?? and he said that a lot of people in our building dont recycle and with all these new rules of what you can and can not recycle everyone just doesnt pay attention and throws everything in one bag and he gets into a lot of trouble and crazy fines. So he has to go through all the garbage to make sure everyone recycles.

so it could be that your landlord was just making sure you recycle.

I recycle, however, i live on a street where kids are constantly walking down, and during the school year its worse cause its the path directly to the highschool, they throw all sorts of stuff in the street, soda bottles, coffee cups, paper plates from the pizza place ect... so i think there was some garbage in the street a small soda bottle and he must have thought it came from us, we have never gotten a fine or anything before.. but he was diginn in my garbage like he was looking for money..

I want to ask him Chris, but i dont know how to say it...

Next time you see him doing that, do what Melissa did. Ask him if he lost something?

I can see checking for recycling - he shouldn't have to get fines for other peoples mistakes.

just come straight out and ask him maybe he did loose something.

Just say hey i saw you digging in the garbage the other day was everything ok, did you loose something valuable or anything??

I agree. Ask him in a nice way 'I happened to look out the window the other day and saw you in the trash...did you lose something...maybe I can help you find it?' Then see what he says.

OK, ill do that when he comes back on friday...that way ill be able to tell him that the bottles on the street are from the kids who pass by...

Just remember that he's older and may be losing his wits...but I bet it's the recycling thing.

My super when I lived in the city did that all the time! But it made me laugh everytime I saw it - we nicknamed him Oscar the Grouch because he was alwaysin the garbage. I have no clue what he did in there but I do know the building would get in trouble if we didn't recycle. One day he found a soup can in our regular garbage and yelled at my roommate. If it bothers you that much I would ask.
