I love it, but the color is called rum, it's like a light satin champagne color.. it's beautiful, but my mom was like 'didn't they have it in white, wedding dresses are supposed to be whiet, aren't they?' and I was like they can be, but now a days they come in all different colors.. I dont' think I look good in white.. what do you all think?? Should I go try on the white, or is the Rum color ok???
I didn't vote because you can't really tell from pictures. I think you should try on the white, just for the heck of it and that's only because I am a traditionalist when it comes to the dress color and I favor white. HOWEVER.... if I remember correctly your dress is from David's Bridal right? I've noticed that sometimes their white can be too white. I've never seen the rum color though, but if you are happy with it, stay with it.

I think it is so pretty (it's not too dark). Me, I know I will want to wear white, but if you like yourself better in that color then I say go for it. It's a very beautiful dress and I like the color, too.

ok good, i just really dont' look good, nor feel comfortable in the white dresses.. My mom LOVES the dress, she's just not sure if it's 'ok' to wear ivory/rum whatever.. Thanks girls

i would say to go try it on in white - just so that you will have no regrets....that way you won't have to look back and think that maybe you should have done something differently...and then if you like it better you can lie so that your mom isn't right... just teasing!

this is your only chance to wear such beautiful white gown, so just try white and make sure that you dont like it... if you still dont like the way it looks on you, go with the other color, they are both beautiful...

Wedding dresses did not start out white. They were simply the very best dress that the bride owned. The tradition of wearing a specially made white dress for your wedding -and never again - was started by Queen Victoria. Altho rumor has it that Mary Queen of Scots also wore white when she married the King of France.
In any event - nothing says you HAVE to wear WHITE. You could wear anything (or nothing! ) As long as you feel pretty and like a bride.. then you go with what makes you feel that way.

I have red hair that I love - but then I have the really pale skin to go with it - which I hate..... I am afraid if I put on a white dress, people won't be able to find me.... like the invisible bride. White is nice - but you know what will look better! -

From one red head to another, the ivory definitely looks better with very pale skin and red hair! I have an ivory dress with pale detail on it--I took a lot of criticism from my FMIL for the colored detail--it wasn't what she considered a wedding dress. In the end, I am glad I went with what was unique--it just makes it that much more special.

i so agree with this!!!! i tried on pure white gowns......not pretty...and if i am photographed in white, it sometimes blends into my skin....and i look naked...i didn't think that would be appropriate for a wedding wear what looks best on YOU

I did ivory with rum pink/oyster whatever..and honestly..its not up to anyone else to tell you to wear white..Wear what compliments you and what you feel most comfortable in

I agree, I don't look good in white either. I'm getting an ivory dress. I think from the picture it lookss very nice.

I think you should wear what you are most comfortable in. Im wearing an ivory dress because I felt that I looked too pale to pull off the white. Do what makes you happy. In the pictures you posted I think the rum/ivory dress looks more elegant.

It's only 8 months til the wedding, i just ordered the dress 3 weeks ago.. I have to start fittings, 4 months before the wedding.. so i dn't think it's too early.. but anyway.. Thanks ladies.. I love it, and that is all that matters.. my mom is just very traditional.. but at her first wedding she had a blue dress
