My mother canceled my wedding!

So pretty much my mother and I have been going at it back and forth for the last 6 months over the wedding, because she thought it was her wedding pretty much. We had a fight today over brides maids dresses and she pretty much kicked me out of her car and called my reception hall and canceled my wedding which was happening this may.

Im stuck now, im so upset and i dont know what to do. I still want to have a wedding, but my fiance and I just bought a house and were strapped for cash. Plus, my mom was my boss and she fired me over all this. (shes crazy!)

So now im jobless and weddingless. Does anyone know any really cheap places I can go?? im so destroyed, now were going to try and attempt to find a cheap place to have it.

That is horrible!!! I cannot believe that she did that to you......and fired you from your job to boot.... Maybe she will come to her senses. I would call Fox Hollow to make sure that she really did cancel it and then I would find an alternative like maybe your backyard, or a room in a restaurant and then when you have money saved renew your vows and do something big for your 10th anniversary!!!

call your hall because were you the one that signed the contract? I'm sure your hall wouldnt cancel your wedding without your word..

i'm sooo sorry this happened to you I wish I had more advice for you

hey that's such a sad situation. i always wanted a destination wedding. maybe you can just invite your closest friends and whoever can make it makes it and you could get married at one of these all inclusives and have your wedding for like $500. it's beautiful and easy. don't worry about all the people, as long as the two of you have a great day that's all that matters. you might be able to do something here later when the situation gets better.

THANKS EVERYONE SO MUCH!!!! This has been really hard for me, and I tried to talk some sense into her last night and we got into a big fight and she told me she never wanted to see me again and threw me out. So right now all i can is try to be strong for me and my poor fiance.

Thanks for all the advice on the reception halls and what to do. Im going to call on the reception hall today and call on my dress today to see if she paid for my dress in full, i dont remember.

Thanks though to everyone, the advice and support have been awesome. Hopefully this will work out, hopefully.

This is obviously a really hard time in your life. Take care of you, right now. I don't have an answer for you, but this will all work out....I don't know how, but it will. You are going to be okay, just remember that...whatever happens, you are going to be OKAY.

were you going to have a church? if so do they have a party room in the church ? i know some do....maybe you can use that and have someone come a cater it??

We got a good deal at Riviera but its off season...

One piece of advice, do it on mothers day---- swan club and a couple other places offered us a great rate if we did it on mothers day because they have trouble booking that day.... it'd be a good slap in the face to her too.... i hope it all works out and remember its your guys wedding not hers. if you wanna make it work on your own, you will... or elope and have a small party afterwards at a restaurant....

I am SO sorry to hear this. I would look into places that do packages such as Brentwood country club, Stewart Thomas Manor, and the place on 106/107 in hicksville. Tell them your story and you might get an even better quote. Payment plans are always an option too.

i'm sorry but if i was invited to a wedding on mothers day I probably wouldn't go.....her guests are or have mothers i'm sure......maybe try a thursday or friday night.

ETA: you don't need bad karma on your wedding day. Also, sunday mornings are less expensive too

I don't think its a good thing to say that to her mother....I'm sure we're just reading one side of the story (her story). I'm really curious to know what she say to her that makes her mother very angry.

I would try an outdoor venue. Something near the water or something. I would have a few friends and family. Set-up a beach theme. Then have a dinner catered somewhere close by. I am not from Long Island but I am quite sure you might be able to obtain a permit and find a location that is free or close to free. I would not mention the type of event and do pretty much everything from small local businesses. Maybe even places that have meaning to you two. If you need any help with ideas or anything, FM me.
