My mother, she bought a WHITE LACE dress to wear to my wedding! What the #$$@!!! We are now not speaking --I don't understand what she is thinking! I find it disrespectful and not appropriate and she thinks this is just FINE that she wears this! Am I wrong?

I have even considered the dying too...any color but white, ivory of PINK! My father (they are divorced) said to just take her shopping for something, but that is not the point, but that is what is going to happen. I found a nice white lace blouse w/ a black sash, at Talbots, I will compromise, and she can wear a long black skirt, it is classy, but not a dress! Urrrgh!

Maybe you can show her some online etiquette info so she sees it's not just you that thinks this is unacceptable? Maybe you can suggest she even wears the same color as the bridal party so she feels really part of the day -then you can have it dyed that color....? Good luck!!

ooowwww! SO touchy but are truly 100% right. Have someone else talk to her about it though. You do not want to put yourself in the middle of that argument if you do not have to. Most likely she will listen to someone's opinion closer to her age than she will to you.

YOu are right, my parents went to a wedding and the MIL wore a white dress, lets just say it is still mentioned from time to time about how tacky it was.....
