My Mother is INSANE!!

She just told me that she got a dress in champagne 'to coordinate with the bridesmaids'

WTF?!?!??!!?

Um, am I being unreasonable for being slightly pissed off?!???

I'm not sure what you're pissed at - the BMs are wearing champagne or that champagne photographs almost white?

I already told my mother dearest, NO champagne colored dress for her.

I've heard this as well and it's all I hear from my mother. Personally, I don't give a crap about her coordinating or matching - just that she wear something that is flattering to her. And besides, EVERYTHING goes with black. Duh.

Yeah, you have every right to be pissed. I would express that to her and tell her to get a new dress. There is no reason for her to match your BMs.

She probably thought she was doing something you would be happy about
I certainly don't see reason to be 'pissed' ....but if it really bothers you I would gently suggest that she wears something that sets her apart from the rest as she is the MOB...

Here's the thing - when we originally talked about the BM dresses the only thing I said is that I'd rather she not wear Champagne - and that I thought Platinum would look great on her, but it was her dress and her decision. She said she would never wear the same color as my FMIL (which I agree - but she was rather disagreeable about it)

She pushed me into ordering these BM dresses, and now she's wearing the same color.

I feel somewhat like a bridezilla, but its just that Mom never wants to talk about the wedding or do anything for it and now the one thing she does step in on it screws up the whole color scheme. But even more important than a silly color scheme, FMIL is very over weight and with mom wearing the same color as the BMs it will draw undue attention to FMILs size and I think that is just unkind.

I see where you are coming from, and given this history - it does shed some light on the way you are feeling.

What I would do is just tell Mom:
'I am so glad you found a dress you like, but I would rather you wear a color that sets you apart from the BM's instead of matching' Tell her also 'I think it might make FMIL feel left out if everyone matches except for her'

I don't think the colors are that close.

My mother and my MIL didn't wear the same color- my MIL wore a reddish color, my mother wore black and my step mom wore a bronze.

They don't all have to match.

the problem is that the dress my mom has is an EXACT match to the bridesmaid dresses (she said it was). I don't want my MOM and FMIL in the same color, but how weird is it going to look if my mom is wearing the same color as the bridesmaids and FMIL is in her usual dark colors?

Ideally there would be 3 colors - the bridesmaids in Champagne and each of the mothers in a separate color.

well they really aren't going to be next to each other except for pictures- maybe your MIL can find something light?

Are you SET with champagne? did the girls order their dresses yet? maybe you can do another BM color?

I have all 9 dresses already ordered and hanging in my closet.

Maybe I can get my mom to get a colored wrap - I'm not sure she's doing a suit style after all.

I'm realizing that this really isn't such a big deal. I'm just pissed that my mother is being so insensitive.

I really wouldn't worry about it- my friend got married and we all wore champagne, the MOB wore champagne, and the MOG wore RED- it didn't look funny in the pictures.
