my nightmares about my dress COME TRUE!!!! UPDATED!!
Original post by LuckiestGirl
Ok so after waiting over a year for my dress I started having nightmares that I wouldnt fit in it. Well lastnight was my fitting, and I dont have any pictures and Im so depressed now. MY DRESS DIDN'T FIT. It was to small. I worked so hard and lost weight so I would look beautiful for my FH and for what. I am this fat cow who is to big for a dress i paid 2000 for. Ive been crying ever since I got home last night. Snapping at everyone cause I feel so stupid to think that I could ever look pretty. So here is what the bridal store said. First the women gets the dress on me buttons the top and then tries to zipper me. Then she asks did you gain weight. I was petrified cause i lost 10lbs. So my cousin was like she lost weight so then the women remesurred me and was like well u lost weight but the dress is 3 inches to small W T F how can that be. 3 inches what if i didnt lose weight, so the dress was ordered to small im so depressed she said she will try to let it out but the bead work will have a gap she said she will fill it in but it wont be exactly the same. She said no one will notice but I still want to know how the dress was ordered or made to small for me when they took the messurments.
Has anyone else had to get their dress let out and how did it look. Could you tell. . . . I just want to call the whole wedding off im so fed up with everything going wrong. Oh and they messed up on my veil and slip too. ARGGGG I just want to hide under a rock and cry.
Thanks for listening well reading!

In all honesty it sounds like a fault on the dress makers part. There is no way you could have lost 10 pounds and it not fit you. Never feel like you wont look pretty! you are going to look fabulous!

I have the same problem... except I was supposed to get married last summer and picked up the dress last year, and I stupidly did not try it on then... Now, the dress is too small. Luckily, it can be fixed, and yours will too. Don't worry. It will be fine.

aw well calm down bc everything will b fine.. ur getting married to the man u love and ur hair and make up look GREAT in ur pictures. The dress will come through.. just make sure u don't take it out on the wrong people. Things happen and I owuld say to talk to the company and argue but with all you're planning there is no time. Just tell them to fit the top of the dress smaller and THEN make it a corset back .. paid by the designer bc that is who messed up. It will look awesome.

Re: my nightmares about my dress COME TRUE!!!!
what everyone is saying is true. Make sure you don't pay for the alterations because it's not your fault. Either they labelled your dress with the wrong tag, or just cut it wrong, especially if it's only tight around the hips. If it was like 1 size wring you would think the entire torso wouldn't zip. And to be 3 inches too small, that's more than a dress size. It's a shame it happened but it's getting harder and harder to find good help these days. so just don't let them push you into spending more money to correct someone else's error. You did your part and more - - lost 10 lbs! that's terrific. I know it's hard but really really the dress is not the biggest part of the day. It's you and your FH getting married ;so if you get on his case and mess that up, well what good would a pretty dress be then. So put things in perspective and try not to yell at him. think positive that things will work out find and you'll be surprised that they will work out fine. Like the Mets years back . . you gotta believe! HTH

Im so sorry that this happened to you-you will look beautiful on your wedding day regardless of how much weight you lose or dont lose.
On a different note: my dress was ordered to my exact measurements and was 2.5 inches too small thru-out the whole zipper. It had to be taken out 2 inches. So do not worry about the dress...if the seamstress thinks she can take it out then there has to be enough material underneath to do so-which mean there SHOULD be beading on that material also that matches the rest of the dress.
Dont worry until she takes it out. I never thought I would have a problem with my dress not fitting (same size, etc my whole life) and when it came in and didnt budge my dress became a nightmare to me.
Plenty of for you-it will work out-promise!
THANK YOU
they messured me and ordered to my size and it came in small im so sick about it. . . but i guess it happens im not the first
Its a complicated thing, I guess thats why they actually recommend you order a size bigger but in the end it will work out. Let the seamstress work her magic and seriously try not to worry about it. I had some of the netting on the front of my dress mysteriously go missing and they attached new netting telling me no worries you wouldnt know...at my reception I had glowing blue spots all over the front of my dress where they had replaced the netting with white!!!
Seriously try not to let it upset you or get you down, regardless it will work out no matter what!

Re: my nightmares about my dress COME TRUE!!!!
First off, I'm so sorry you are going through this because the same thing happened to me and I know exactly how you feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine was actually my fault (I was a little overzealous with thinking how much weight I could lose - I lost a bunch, but clearly not enough), but these things happen and CAN be fixed. I too got my dress from Lillette's. Who are you working with as a seamstress?
Second of all, my first fitting was only 5 weeks before my wedding, so trust me...you have time. They let my gown out a little bit (couldn't let it out too much however as there was not a lot of fabric in the seam) and I went back a week and a half later (now 3.5 weeks before the wedding) and it was a little better, but still too tight. My seamstress told me to eat healthily and walk a lot and drink a lot of water and come back in another week and half. When I went back that time, it fit great. However, had this not worked, they were going to order me extra fabric that they could add in the seam of the dress. The beading they added was immaculate, and no one could ever tell how much work had gone into it. There are a lot of options and please tell them you want to hear them all. I know another girl whose dress didnt fit either and they added a corset.
Third, it sounds like they need to check out the dress a bit more and find out that it is in fact the correct size. If not, they should get on the horn and demand a new one in the correct size asap. Causing you this undue stress is crazy, and I'm so sorry!
And finally, trust me - you will be a beautiful bride in September!!!!! It will all work out, I promise. FM me if you need to chat/vent.

Re: my nightmares about my dress COME TRUE!!!!
I am alittle bit better today. My FH talked to me lastnight after his mother freaked out about my dress being to small. He was like 'Val even if you have to walk down the aisle in jeans you will still be the most beautiful thing in the church.' That made me feel better. Then he said that we are getting married and starting a life together he understands i waited so long for my dress but its been even longer i waited for this day and hes right its about us not the dress the dress just is a small part that doesnt matter. (that is hard to say) but i guess it is true.
