My petite mother...

My petite mother...

I'm bumping this cuz I still dunno what to do and now that we are almost 2 months away I don't want to put anything on rush order so I need to find a place we can just pick up the dress.

OP:
She can't find a dress! She has a hard enough time finding regular clothing so I knew it was gonna be tough finding a nice gown that will fit nicely. The petite sections we've seen don't have anything 'nice' enough for her liking. Regular sizes are toooo long which stink if the skirt part has a nice train or doodle at the bottom for alterations. Then she says nothing sits right above her booty... too picky...

So, can anyone recommend somewhere where she can find some nice petite gowns in Nassau?

We've already been to Davids Bridal, Estelles, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Macys and Nordstrom.

We are having the same issue with my FMIL. We are going to go to a bridal salon and order something so that they can get it as close to her size as possible.

My mom is petite also...she ended up getting hers from RK Bridal. She tried on almost every MOB dress there...and most were too much for her frame. She ended up finding one that wasn't too overwhelming. We also tried some more formal looking bridesmaid dresses that worked as well.

very pretty Jen. I wanted my FMIL to try on BM dresses too but I don't think she is liking that idea.

even if it has a train they can do alterations on it and it will be fine. If you look at my e-party dress it has a bit of a train and it was longer and they took a decent amount off PLUS i had all beading and lace on the bottom. Trust me they know how to work with it and can do alterations so just buy a dress she loves and bring it to a good seamstress

My mom went to Macy's and found 3 dresses she loved. She found them in petite also since she is tiny.

Yes my mom has 3 dress options and I still haven't fully committed to my dress...

My mom is petite too and she found a really nice beaded gown in Macy's Herald Square for my cousin's wedding this month. It was petite so she didn't need any alterations at all!

For her MOB dress, we went to My daughter's wedding and her gown has a train and detailing at the bottom, but they said it's not a problem for them. You just need to go somewhere they can alter it properly.

Try one of those stores.

Did you try Lord and Taylor in the city? They have a HUGE selection of evening-type gowns...might have more than the one on LI

My petite mom found a great evening gown for my nephew's baptism at a boutique in Astoria, Queens. They actually have petite dress sizes. Here's the info:

Fia Rucci Boutique

Exactly how petite is she (height? normal dress size?). My MOH is 5 feet tall and weights about 90 pounds (I call her a miniature person). Some of the tea length dresses we found actually came down to her ankles. If your mom is small enough you can always get a tea length dress and either get it in a larger size and alter it, or try to lengthen it if you get it in a size closer to her. Or if that won't work, tea lengths are always a good option anyway because they are smaller and won't be so overwhelming.
