My public apology to Felicia

.....or alternatively titled.: 'Our horrible trip to the movies yesterday'.

We went to see..........

'The Hitchiker's Guide to The Galaxy'

First off, I am probably the biggest fan of the Douglas Adams books and have been anticipating the release of this movie for years. So many rumours about it being made, then finally confirmation last year...I was overjoyed!!!! I don't post on this board much, but some of you may remember me posting earlier this year about how much I was looking forward to this movie.

We saw it yesterday.

It sucked.

Literally one of the worst movies I've EVER seen. They literally sucked the life out of the books. Douglas Adams may have lent a hand in the script, but I think he would be rolling in his graves had he seen the finished product.

I can only think that they had script editors that had their sense of humor surgically removed go through the books and selectively pluck out all of the funny or clever lines to make a two hour torture test for moviegoers.

My advice? Don't waste your money. I even spent extra for the fancy 'Director's Hall' theater with extra wide leather seats, upgraded sound and assigned seating to ensure you get the seat you want (even though there was only ONE other guy in the theater and he left halfway through).

I almost got into an argument with Felicia because she did not want to see it in the first place. I dragged her to the theater because I just KNEW she would love the movie (of course!). Let's say it was a quiet ride home.

I am so dissapointed. I was looking forward to this movie more then 'Star Wars' or 'War of the Worlds'.

Just to let you know how gawd-awful this film was, here's a review from one of the biggest Douglas Adams fans. (He wrote a best-selling biography of Douglas Adams)

OK LET ME clarify (since he's about to kill me)

I was sick and cranky. I didn't want to see the movie and he kept offering me to buy me goodies, candy, popcorn and the like

I was pouting and sitting there, TRYING to keep an open mind but KNOWING I was going to hate this movie

HE offered one last time to get me refreshments but I was biatchy and stormed out and got my own, just to lay the guilt on realllly thick

He's not THAT bad of a guy - just had bad taste in movies, but great taste in women

Ten minutes later she gets up to go to the bathroom and comes back with a popcorn, soda and bag of candy. Go figure.

See now that would be torture for me!! I usually don't like Chick flicks and DH is the one that usually enjoys them. Message in a bottle IMO YUCK - DH loved it. Titanic- IMO horrible killed me to sit there I wanted to walk out- DH loved it.

Now Attack of the Killer tomatoes, has a love story, comedy and horror all in one and some big Tomatoes on wheels rolling through it

But Ive never read the books and i understand how readers get hopes up when the movie comes along but it never turns out good


still,

the movie makes me wanna go get the 5 book series to find out what happens
