My RH CLOSED!!

I spoke with my RH today and they are closing as of the end of this year. They gave us some choices...

1. We could get a refund.

2. We can have our wedding at one of the following venues:

- The Mansion at Timber Point
- Smithtown Landing Country Club
- Three Village Inn

We would like to pick one of the three choices they are giving us.

Anyone have any advice as to which one is the best place? We are visiting all of them this weekend.

I am so disappointed...

Darn, what a bummer! I've been to all three, but it's been a long time, and I think you really have to see them all. I would worry about that bridal suite thing . . . . there should be a personal code to get in changed for every BP, so if the hall doesn't ensure security and privacy for the suite, I would NOT have my wedding there IF i had a choice. God forbid something happened, it could put a damper on the day and turn it into a bad memory.

If you don't have a choice on that, then just make sure not to leave anything of value in there.

I would get a refund and go somewher else, if all the other places are owned by the same company, what about if they too go out of buisness?

They are closing after the end of 2008, you will be fine. I was in 2009 so they are no longer doing anymore weddings.

We went to lunch at the 3 Village Inn in June this year and a wedding was going on outside. We were on our way into the restaurant as the bridal party was walking out! My family and I waited outside in the road in front of the bldg so we wouldn't interrupt, but other customers were just pushing their way through the bridal party-- including the bride! Just be aware if you are planning to get married on the grounds outside!

Unless they'd be offering some kind of discount if you book one of these three places, I'd take the refund and go elsewhere. There are so many RH's out there.. don't limit yourself to just these three.

Thanks. The thing is, they will be honoring our contract at one of these venues. In essence, we are getting an upgrade.

Good luck! Im sorry you have to deal with this but a lot of ladies said great things about Mansion at Timberpoint.....so hopefully that works for you

The bride will not talk about the wedding because it reminds her of the robbery which is ridiculous. I didn't attend the wedding but my sister said she was inconsolable and she cried her eyes out and that it ruined the whole night.
I guess this could happen at any wedding but it wasn't handled well.

So sorry this happened to you! Of the choices I have been to Timber Point. My brother got married there last summer and TP did such a nice job! We all thought the food was excellent. The bridal attendant and the maitre'd were also great. My youngest brother was the BM and he was freaking out about giving the toast so he asked the Maitre'd about getting a shot before going out there Lessings has a no shot policy but wouldn't you know the maitre'd was awesome and had a round of shots ready for everyone in the bridal party right before we were introduced. We thought that was really cool of them.

We looked at Smithtown Landing. I had received pricing prior and it was great so we wanted to look. We went to their showcase. I went with FH and FMIL. No one cared for it. We all felt it was sorta run down looking.

We wanted to look at other Lessings places but then we went to the Swan Club and fell in love. Go to those 3 places and see if you fall in love with any of them. If you dont have an 'This is the place' I would get a refund and find something else.

I've only seen the outside of Smithtown landing, but it's a very nice golf course and a nice drive through the course on your way to the club house, which also looked nice from the outside.

The bonus about Three Village Inn is that it is right near the harbor and will make for some really nice photo ops. Very quaint, country and cozy venue. I'm having my rehearsal dinner there in their small private room.

I'm sure you'll find something you'll equally love!

Tall Grass may not be going out of business-they may just be closing bc they cant cover their over head so i dont know if this is really an issue

I would go and see all of them.

The three village inn is very nice, its exactly that-and Inn, very cozy, warm, pretty on the outside. That is the only I have been to so I cant really say much about the others.
