My sister has me so upset, am I wrong?

My sister has me so upset, am I wrong?

I'll tell you the background, my 23 year old sister (my only sister/MOH) is VERY irresponsible and has had a lot of issues acting out over the past few years and is very immature. She hasn't ever offered to help, didn't help plan the shower and also didn't help with the bachelorette party plans. I've spoken to her about it several times now.

The bridesmaid dresses came in a couple months ago and I was very particular about how the dresses were to be altered because I wanted them all the same length. I wanted them all hemmed 1 inch below the knee, no shorter, so they would all be the same length and this is what I felt was appropriate for church. I warned my sister several times because I know she likes her skirts to be short. Anyway, I told her several times and also texted her right before she went to her fitting and low and behold, she told the seamstress to hem the dress 2 inches above the knee and now they cant let it out. I only found out because I am friendly with the seamstress and my other bridesmaid went for her fitting and the seamstress mentioned it to her. I flipped out on her and I dont know what to do now. I told her I am ready to just kick her out of the bridal party because she hasn't helped at all, and is just completely irresponsible. I dont think there is time to get a new dress either since the wedding is so close. Do you think it will be that noticeable? What should I do?

that was really inconsiderate and childish of your sister, i would totally be mad as well... however, even though she hasnt done jack (which sounds exactly like my sister lol) youre so close now i think youd end up really regretting especially over this.. i know it was really dumb of her but right now i think youre just stressed out and this was just the icing on the cake,

def let her know that this is not ok, that she was wrong for doing that. your pics will be fine honestly i dont think it will very noticeable, youre not gonna have that many full length pics of your bp

Wow! Its crazy that she would go behind your back and do something like that!!! I dont think it would be super noticeable, but still..thats so wrong!!! I'm sorry you're going through this with her!

I'm going through the same thing. Mine just turned 21, and has her own issues. Shes my only sister and the MOH. What was I thinking?

Just last night, i took her to see the dress I wanted and she complained it didn't 'accent her butt'.

I'll accent her butt alright.

I'll be sure to tell the seamstress to run things by me. Perhaps that's something all ladies in the future to do. I don't think anyone will notice, she is the MOH so it's ok to look different from the rest, bare that in mind.

that is so frustrating. i'm so sorry. like the other posters said, i wouldn't take any action. she should know how upset you are and how wrong she was, but i wouldn't kick her out. she'll be your sister for the rest of your life, and she will mature.

at least she's the MOH so it's ok if she's slightly different. don't let her know that though!

I'd let her know you're upset, and that you know if you were to ever do that to her she'd be angry too, its a special day meant to be done the way we dreamed, not the way others want it.

So sorry to hear she is acting like this. I really wish the seamstress would have called you before doing it.

Anyway, I would be spiteful, b/c I can be that way when someone deliberately tries to hurt me. I would still let her be apart of the wedding, since it is so close, and you would probably regret it and get a lot of slack for it. I would however suggest letting her know how you don't appreciate her actions. Perhaps reflect it in her MOH gift or lack thereof. Sorry, like I said, I can be spiteful, but ONLY to those who are not very nice to me. Besides, if she really isn't doing a thing, that is not very supportive and somewhat hurtful to you.

very upsetting and that would make me mad but I don't know if kicking her out is the best option - how do the other bm's feel?

I don't think you're wrong at all! I wouldn't kick her out of the BP though, but I would def tell her how you feel.

I'm sorry she did that

But maybe because shes your MOH it will look fine. A lot of times the MOH wheres a different dress then the other girls.

But if your really upset with her I think you need to sit down and tell her everything your feeling. The closer you get to the wedding you shouldn't have to be worrying about this.

ugh - id be very pissed too. Dont do anything you will regret, you may be mad right now but are you mad enough to not have her be in your wedding?

The only bright side is that shes your MOH and so maybe people will think thats the reason she gets to wear the short one?

People are so inconsiderate and selfish - Im sorry you are going through this. Try to not let her get to you too much

Thanks girls, you guys always make me feel better. I just kinda let it blow over last night and spoke to the seamstress and she said she can let it down an inch and a half. It will still be a little shorter than the rest but probably won't be as noticeable

ITA. Family is family. I'd probably say something to her after the wedding, like 'Hey, that was pretty crappy of you!' But for now, I'd let it go. It'll look fine in the pics though!!

I honestly don't know if you can get a new dress, maybe check online stores? That is definitely something to be upset about! At this point, if you can't get a new dress, I'd kick her out
