My so very upset update

First of all I want to thank you all for all your good thoughts and prayers.
On the way to work this morning I had an accident. I hit a pedestrian while making a left turn. I am not making excuses but between the rain and it being dark out the driving conditions were horrible. From what the EMS and police told me is that he was going to be ok- no broken bones- no bleeding just a little bruising. Even though they all told me he will be ok and everyone has told me that these things happen, The police and EMS all told me they know it was an accident. I am having a very hard time dealing with this. I keep going over in my head how this happened and how I didnt see him. I called my cousin who is a priest and talked things out with him. I wanted to make a confession of sorts, but he told me that no confession was necessary since it was an accident. I am still crying and I cant seem to forgive myself. This is so hard trying to deal with this.

It was an accident, you stayed and you truly cared about what happened to the person...most people would only be worrying about their insurance going up...your a great person, hang in there

I'm sorry sweetie. I'm sure there's nothing I can say to make you feel better but I will try. It was an accident and I'm sure that you are really upset right now, but thank goodness both of you are ok. I hope you take time to get through this and feel better soon. I'm just glad that you and the pedestrian are ok! Don't beat yourself up, as everyone already said, this was purely an accident.

This was an accident. We all know you would NEVER do something like this intentionally and there was nothing you could have done to prevent this.

I don't know you but I can totally tell this is not something you would ever do intentionally. It was a total accident and I am sure the pedestrian also knew that. It wasn't as if you were recklessly speeding and driving out of control. The words were horrific this morning so please don't beat yourself up. It was an accident and I am just so happy that everyone is okay. Get back in the car and just know that we are all behind you hun!!

omg im so sorry this happened to u
it was a mistake, nothing premeditated or anything and they happen. the guy seems to be doing fine and nothing happened to u either. im sure its hard dealing with it, but try not to beat urself up over it.

Celia... i know its easier said than done, but you have to get through this... i know someone that hit a guy on the NJ Tpk, the guy was running across traffic attempting to committ suicide.... and my friend hit him and killed him.... and my friend still hasnt gotten over it... his wife divorced him and I have no idea where he is right now... pleaase im begging you... dont let it bother you to that point

Celia, I am so sorry you are going through this. It is normal for you to be feeling this way and thinking everything through again and again. No one was seriously hurt and that is the great thing. It will take time, but eventually you will heal!

just like everyone else said accident happen. its not like you woke up yesterday morning & had an agenda to harm someone. its hard to deal with right now but it will get easier.

You DEF have our support. Accidents happen and while it might not make you feel better, I almost hit a peditrian going to work yesterday too. It was so dark outside and the rain was coming down I didn't see him run in front of the car. I will pray for all those who were involved and good luck with everything!

I can tell the guilt is eating away at you, but try to keep in mind that the person is ok AND you are ok. We know you feel terrible and you're allowed, but don't let it eat away at you!
