My tasting story--Milleridge Cottage(LONG)

All I have to say is it completely exceeded any expectations I could have had--Elizabeth you were completely right about the crepe-- everything blew me away-- I think if I would have went to the tasting when we first booked I would have been talking about the food for the last year and a half--thank god for everyone I didnt!! The portions and sizes of the food was outstanding--the shrimp was huge-- nothing what i expected(one of my favorite food) we are having the vienesse--but wasnt completely sure what was on it--my god it is def worth the extra money-- with 7 weeks to go I cant believe how real it feels and IS Elizabeth I told them that I 'knew' you and all about this board with all the cottage brides talking and they got a kick out of it!!! We ended up going with the chicken cordon bleu, salmon and chateau briand-- I was not impressed with the cake book-- they all looked really squat so we are working on that still--- and I redid their seating plan on the computer --and am going to recommend it to them-- I once again HIGHLY recommend the cottage to anyone who is thinking about it-- the prices might be higher than other places but I think the extra cost is beyond worth it- Laura oh and the fire extinguisher cant even be seen!!!

My tasting story--Milleridge Cottage(LONG)

I actually went to Milleridge last night for dinner. If the wedding reception food is anything like the food in the resturant it is excellent. There was a wedding going on in the Carriage house I believe. Where is the Cottage? Is that the catering hall by the little shops?

My tasting story--Milleridge Cottage(LONG)

The Cottage is the bigger building standing solo across the parking lot. Laura - I`m so glad you were blown away..our guests won`t go hungry :o) The shrimp sound luscious. I can`t wait, we went the other night to bring everything and when we were trying out the set up of the candles on the mantle and the fireplace going, we just looked around and took it all in, knowing that our next view from that angle will be on our wedding day, looking out at all our guests. I can`t believe it`s 5 1/2 days away. Glad you liked the crepe too. Enjoy these last weeks as the final details are worked out and everything falls into place. I have such a sense of relaxation since we turned over our 2 boxes of stuff to the Milleridge and confirmed all my vendors. Now I am just finishing my programs and a last fitting and I`m ready.

The carriage house is the one by the shops and the white building off to the back is the Cottage--so you probably saw the wedding at the cottage Laura

It is so funny that you said about turning all the stuff over--when Nadine told me that I had to bring all my stuff by the 18th I felt a sense of relief-- I def thought the last few days before would be crazy but now since they have to be done before I feel much better-- you are getting close ;-) Laura

My tasting story--Milleridge Cottage(LONG)

You mentioned candles on the mantle.... Is the Millerage ok with that? It sounds like it would be beautiful!! Just wondering if they mentioned anything about a fire hazard or anything. I'd love to do the same. About how many can fit on that mantle?? Also, does anyone know what month they stop lighting the fireplace??

Milleridge-candles on mantle

Yes-Milleridge is fine with it. There is nothing flammable around it. If you do it, be sure to get holders or plates to put them on so the wax doesn`t drip all over the mantle. How many depends on what size you get. I would suggest a few of those large round ones with 3 wicks and a few smaller ones. Nothing too small because you want them to burn for 4-5 hours and still be fairly large and nothing too high because the air vents may blow them out. We are putting 8 or 9 candles, you can fit more but we thought it was a decent amount for the look we wanted. You can`t put them all the way to the side edges of the mantle because of the ventilation system so we left the 2 floral things - the wood things they have there - and it looks nice. I don`t know about the fireplace. We will definitely have it on since our wedding is this Saturday but if your wedding is in warmer weather, I know their florist has some great ideas for decorating it.
