Here's the scoop: I'm not such a huge fan of flowers....I love them, I just can't justify blowing soooooo much money on my CP's for my 22+ tables... So I came up with a different idea for my CP's, one that really is relevant to me.. an Herb Garden CP! I have always had a love of cooking, so I thought this idea would be really cute. Mom is giving grief, saying how 'different it is' and how some people 'won't appreciate it, and think you are just being cheap'. Yes, it is inexpensive (only costing me after tax 21bucks!!! That saves me over 2000!) Please tell me what you think.. I made a sample and the pic is below... Need your opinions, as you are THE guru's on all wedding issues

I LOVE the idea, especially since you're into cooking. It would smell wonderful and be different. The only thing I don't like is the pot since Carlyle is more fancy than that. If you kept the greens the way they are and put them in a fancier container maybe surrounded by votive candles, it would look great...still simple but dressed up a little. it's worth saving $2,000 to go with something you even like better than 'normal' centerpieces. I think it's cool, but it needs some height. Is there somehting tall and colorful you can put in the middle? I think it's cute, but it so doens't fit in. If you book someplace as expensive and elegant as the carlyle, why skimp on flowers? I don't think they go togehter. I know I totally hated this when people told me this about NRC and a DJ..but what can you do? I think it could be a good ide if you put something tall, elegant and colorful in the middle. It doens't have to be expensive. I don't know much about flowers and herbs, etc..but get creative!

i say go for it!! i like different things..i guess i agree with the other girls about the scent but personally i looove the smell of herbs..others may not..good luck..its a tough decision..

I think the herbs are better suited for a garden theme. Even more so for an outdoor wedding. There are a lot of very very affordable CP's that you can buy or make that would suit better for your hall.

Maybe you could do something like am470 - add flowers to the herbs so that the CP has some color to it. You wouldn't have to use as many flowers as in a CP so the cost wouldn't be as high. OR, you could buy the flowers wholesale and make the CPs yourself, saving even more money.....

I think it's a good idea. I love green so my only suggestion would be to make it fuller. A bit more herbs so it's almost spilling, maybe a different pot even something fancier. Maybe you could even have a 'breakaway' type where you put 6-7 (one per couple) grouped together and they can double as favors. Like this pic.
Either way I think it's a great way to incorporate something personal and original.
