My wedding dress got lost in the mail!

A couple of weeks ago I bid on a dress on ebay that I had tried on and loved. I lost the bid in the last second but the next day the girl that won the bid offered to sell me the dress if it didn't fit her. Well it didn't and my parents paid her the money and she mailed the dress. She wrote me an email right after she mailed it and kept writing me throughout the week to see if I got it. She mailed it on June 26th and I still haven't got it!!! I called the post office and they said it might be lost! I don't know what to do. Not only am I upset that I lost the dress that I wanted, but now I am going to have to get my parents' money back.

I hope you find the dress, maybe there has been a delay. Was it insured??? Hope it turns out well for you.

did you (she) get a tracking number from the post office?

The girl that mailed it didn't insure it or get a tracking number. The people in the post office are keeping an eye out for it but they really have no way to track it. Do I have a right to ask for my money back from the girl?

you should absolutly ask for your money back.. how do you know she even mailed the dress?? some people on ebay are not the most honest people.. i would also wait just a little bit.. my MIL went to florida for a week and mailed me a postcard the first day she was there and she was there a week and it didnt get here until 3 days after she was home...

OK, I sell on Ebay and I have an excellent feedback record.
Let me start by saying I have learned alot about ebay and people. Does this seller have a good feedback record?
First off, give it a few days more.
Secondly, if she didn't insure the package, she is not even responsible for the return of the money even though she should be so kind (IF SHE DID MAIL IT) to refund you.
I won an auction for something, didn't insure the package and never received the item, or my refund. See here's where I screwed up (before I learned about ebay), her auction offered insurance and I didn't take it, I never did because I trust people too much. Anyway, did her auction offer insurance? If it didn't she should really refund you.
How did you pay her? Check? Paypal, Money order?

She just wrote me an email offering to get me my money back and has opened a case with the post office to find the package. She didn't sell me the package through ebay b/c she actually won the bid, got the package and since the dress didn't fit her offered to sell me the dress. I paid her through paypal even though I didn't buy it from her through ebay. It looks like I'll get my money back, just not the dress.
