Maybe I'm a little over sensitive, but I'm a little bummed about the # of people coming to my wedding. We invited 184, and it looks like we're only having 130. Which is 20 people under our minimum! I understand people have lives etc, etc, but I'll admit I'm a little sad that so many people said no.
My family is small, I only have 6 tables on my side! For some reason, this is bothering me.
We've started the seating plan, and it just looks so sparse......
Maybe I'm over reacting. Thanks for letting me vent, and reading my shameless post for sympathy!

I invited 213, and only 148 came. I was 2 under my minimum and I felt sad too. However the tables looked just fine. IT will all work out. But like I said I will be there if you need me!

Your wedding will not be small, it will be beautiful & intimate. You'll have a wonderful time with the ones you love. 130 is still a lot of people. Don't stress, just enjoy your day.

it's ok...gives you more time to talk to everyone....we invited 195 and only had 139, not including the 4 no shows

i had 311 on my invite list and 186 replied yes.. out of that we only had 157... alot of no shows. and as for dh side including those in the wedding party he had only 18 people come from his side! so i know how you feel! for the seating what we did was insteade of putting the family head tables by us we put them in the middle of the dance floor on each side! and it looked better. just an idea!

Fellow Flowerfield bride here who didn't make her minimum..
First..as long as the people who mean the most to you are there that is all that matters!
We invited 220 and had 144 say yes and 142 show up! The room didn't look empty at all..actually it looked perfect. Try to get them to give you the vendor meals for free...
Maybe you have a 'B' list you can invite. We had a few that we invited later and people understand ..and they were happy to come!
..Oh, can I come?? JK!

I know what you mean, sometimes I think my Dad is inviting anyone he can find so we meet my min. (my MOH's grandma for instance)
As you know many LIW girls would be happy to come if you don't make your min. Including me! I plan to have around 130 and I think its a great size!!!!!!

sorry to hear you're bummed, but for me this would be GOOD NEWS! we currently have 178 potential guests and only want ~100. I was originally thinking we would send out about 150 and hit our target, but my mom is now stating to send out all and whatever will be will be. our minimum is 80, target 100, max we want to pay for is 125.
'small' is great! what stinks is that you have to pay to meet the minimum, that was a HUGE problem we had when looking for halls...

You guys are right, 130 is just fine, I can spend more time with my guests that way.

When i read your original post, I felt like it was ME speaking!
I am going through the same thing, our wedding will probably be only 100 (when they got the STD's a lot of our OTTs told us they are not coming). At first it REALLY got me down.. but now I'm looking at the brighter side of things and trying to remember that as long as our immediate friends/family are there, nothing else will matter!!
And I am seriously considering a LIWs table myself .. So many of you have been so great here!!!

i work at flowerfield and with 130 people the room looks fine, when we have too many people the room becomes very tight, i had 130 and that was a perfect number, no matter how many people you have your wedding day will be beautiful. i hope this was helpful

I believe it was Martha Stewart who said whatever the maximum for the room is, you should really not put any more than 100 less than that for people to be comfortable and not crowded. Sounds like you're right on target.
We have the same situation - a lot of out of town family and friends, as well as some who are ill. I'm happy for all those that can be there and for those who can't, I know they're with us in spirit.

My family is small as well...But we over invited friends and such to make up for the small family...Ironically, my DH's family is small as well...We had about 170 at our wedding. Did you invite people with dates as well? Don't worry, it will be beautiful!!!!

I think one of the 4th of July brides from last summer was having trouble meeting her minimum and invited some LIW's. Plenty of us would love to come to see you, your hall, your vendors, etc.
It will work out and be better than you could ever imagine
