Maybe I'm a little over sensitive, but I'm a little bummed about the # of people coming to my wedding. We invited 184, and it looks like we're only having 130. Which is 20 people under our minimum! I understand people have lives etc, etc, but I'll admit I'm a little sad that so many people said no.

My family is small, I only have 6 tables on my side! For some reason, this is bothering me.

We've started the seating plan, and it just looks so sparse......

Maybe I'm over reacting. Thanks for letting me vent, and reading my shameless post for sympathy!

I think the number of people is perfect. Everyone always assumes anything less than 200 people is a 'small' wedding. We invited about 130 and have 100 at the wedding and it felt like a LOT of people. It is the perfect size! I've been to so many huge weddings where the bride and groom spend the whole reception going from table to table talking to their guests...never get a chance to eat, party and really enjoy all their hard work. WIth a smaller wedding, we were able to talk with most of our guests during the cocktail hour and didn't have the 'meet and greet' pressure for the entire evening. Trust me,you'll be very glad you are having a smaller wedding than expected.

Its so nice to see so many people in the same boat! I thought I was alone!!!! Right now I am not on talking terms with my dad.. my mom has a tiny family and fh's isnt small but not huge either... FH's mother feels so bad for us that we might not meet the minimum shes inviting EVERYONE she can think of.. and feels bad since she dosent really have many friends. Also alot of FH's family is in Italy and 99.9% sure they wont make it for the wedding.
It stinks to pay for uneaten plates but I knew that might be a problem when I booked my hall.. I JUST HAD to have that ballroom!! I dont care if its just DH and I!!!
And I am having an LIW table.. but it has nothing to do with not metting my minimum you girls have been there almost every step of the way for me and so much more supportive then most me real 'friends' during this process - alot of you just have to be there!!!!!!!!! - even if I go over my minimum by 50 .. it money well spent to enjoy the day with you ladies!!

as long as the people who are there mean a lot to you thats all that matters! You will have a wonderful day filled with love and all the important people in your life.

definitely agree!! don't worry about, this will all be insignificant on the actual day!!

I can totally understand, I think our final count is about 100 out of 130 invited, and whats really sad is only 2 of those tables are mine!!! My family is sooooooooo small!!!

Wendy...we are only going to wind up with 75...including all the kids (ranging from 9 mos. to 14). We invited 150...but we were thinking we would have 100. It's disappointing to me also...but I know now, who the people are who care about me and the people I call 'friends' who aren't coming Maybe I'm a little bitter myself...but everything will work out just fine!!! You will have a great time!!!

aww hon it is ok - we ahve about 200 people invited and to be honest i doubt we will make our minimumof 125 - not only that but only 2 of the tabels will be fh's side ( i feel bad for him )
